Ran Over a Gator Last Night
Put this one on the "never thought I'd say this" list. Last night I was driving back on the highway between Tallahassee and Thomasville. Doing about 70 on the windy scenic (but now dark) road. I had my brights on so I saw him in time. But he was kinda little - 4 to 5 foot long. So I figured I'd straddle him. Bad move. I forgot my little car sits pretty low to the ground. I made gator tail out of him. I was lucky no damage to the car. Gotta go to the carwash today. Next time I'll swerve instead. I always told my daughter to never swerve for a dog. Deer and gators on the other hand...

Never swerve....always hit the animal - which is a comp loss (shit that's usually out of our control), generally rates won't go up.

However, swerve....then you might run off of the road and into a ditch or hit something else, all of a sudden you have a collision loss and rates very well could possibly increase.
