Is it me, or has Urlacher always been a bit over-hyped?

Wow. Didn't realize he had lost so much nobody would pick him up.

Time to retire his jersey to my gameroom wall.

One of the most overrated players in NFL history. If he played for the Jags he would have been considered a very good, but not great, player.

He could have played one more year for the Bears - they made him a $2 million offer. Should have taken it, but instead he got all butthurt and offended. Now he gets nothing.
But I wouldn't feel too bad for him. They love him up here, he already does commercials and will certainly have his choice of Bears radio and TV gigs (assuming he doesn't land something on a national level). In the long run, he'll be better off than pulling a Favre and going to a division rival and pissing off his fan base. I doubt if you'll see Brett doing anything Packer-related anytime soon. |

I'm sure he is set for life. Most likely a good decision for sure.

He is just a phone call away. This could work out for him to get a phone call when a team loses a LB and are of need in the playoff hunt. All he has to do is stay in shape. The Bears may tell him to keep his phone close?

For a long time there was speculation that he'd land in Minnesota, but I guess that fell through. |

Always? I dunno about that - for a time he was a truly amazing linebacker.
But that time was a hell of a lot shorter than the hype. He also had a few years in the middle of his prime where he just wasn't very good. If you try to put him with Ray Lewis, yeah you're overhyping him. But if you want to say that for a 10 year stretch, he was routinely among the best, if not the best MLBs in the NFC, that's totally fair.
