Chiefs Alex Smith on Mike and Mike this morning

Did anyone else catch the interview? Very well spoken!

Alex seemed to be the type of person that is very self aware regarding the up's and down's he has been through during his career.

Definately had things in perspective regarding the progression of the Chiefs offense over the past few games. Considered the three losses a good "learning experience" for the team. Characterized the first Denver game as a "playoff" atmosphere that gave the team a taste of what the playoffs may be like. Again, considered it a good learning experience for the team as they head into the playoffs. Alex felt that the first Denver game gave the players and coaches a chance to see and fix some of the mistakes they had gotten away with during the 9-0 run. Felt good about the games because KC had leads but just weren't able to finish.

Attributed the scoring output over the past few games as being able to play "complete" games. Early in the season the team had put together some good half games or did well in particular quarters but implied they are working on playing well the entire game.

Was asked to comment about the position the Chiefs are in regarding having locked up the 5th seed but has the potential to overtake Denver as the division leader should Denver lose. Alex just answered by explained that there are some things this team doesn't have control over.

Best KC QB interview I have heard in............forever. You can tell Alex is very intelligent and understands the game and what is asked of him. Stated he didn't care what labels were attributed to him such as "game manager." All he cares about is winning football games.

Absolutely NOT! He was asked how he felt about throwing screen passes to Charles but benefiting from the long touchdown runs after the catch. Alex called Charles a special talent and attributed some of Charles' success to the lineman and WR's completing downfield blocks to help Charles.

He gave credit to everyone.

And that's all well and good. When push comes to shove though, being a nice guy doesn't cut it. Being a good QB does. Let's just hope he can keep this up.

Only QB's that aren't Chiefs QB's get this credit... Manning has lived off the screen and short house calls to Thomas this year...
