***All Things Sammy Watkins Thread***

I typically fall in love with a First-Round draft prospect we could realistically get about this time of year.

For instance, I wanted Eric Berry more than anything, and I ran around the house screaming when we drafted him. Justin Houston was my favorite, until the weed failure at the combine. THRILLED we got him in the 3rd.

Conversely, I said I would "fist a goat" if we drafted Tyson Jackson 3rd overall, and I still need to make good on that promise.

This year, the object of my affection is Sammy Watkins from Clemson.

This WR has great hands, speed (both quick and distance), instinct, fantastic routes, and is goddamned game-breaker.

Let this thread serve as SW's bandwagon.

Sammy will go early. He reminds me of Pierre Garcon. He is really raw like Garcon was coming out. About 50% of his catches came from screen passes. He is a play maker but he isn't a great route runner yet and he drops some passes. He's not as clean as Julio Jones, AJ Green, or even Blackmon were when they came out.

Mostly correct.

Watkins doesn't run as precise routes and his hands aren't as good as many in this draft.

However, he's a fast as shit track guy, thus the need for most people around here to go absolutely apeshit over him, e.g., Bobby Griffin.

I also think that his college play has been elevated by his QB, Tahj Boyd, who isn't getting much love but has had a terrific college career.

Basically, we've already got two guys just like Watkins on the roster in Avery and Jenkins. Fast as shit receivers who aren't great route runners with average or worse hands.

You want to fall in love with a receiver who is fast, runs excellent routes and has very nice hands?

Try Odell Beckham of LSU.

And, unlike Watkins, there's a good chance that Beckham will be available when the Chiefs pick.
