Expect Vargas to pitch a no-hitter because I'm ready for anything after last night.

Yost playing hunches again. Vargas has had a few bad starts down the stretch. We will see how it goes.
As for Ventura he pretty much nearly destoyed his confidence putting the youngster under pressure with something he hasn't done a lot of this year. Now the hunch is will he respond. Dont like these moves but if it works out well ok then. |

Guthrie was good in his last start why not him to open? Surely they didn't get him hot enough last night warming in the pen.

I'm sure it's Vargas, Ventura, Shields, and then we'll see. Duffy's long relief right now. Other than Vargas (I'd go Guthrie), I'm fine with it. Ventura's going to shove. He's pissed. Little Pedro got humbled a bit and wants to show up.

He's probably banking a bit on a revenge factor with Vargas wanting to get to his old team and familiarity with them. However, familiarity works both ways, and Vargas has been horrible lately.
At least Guthrie balled out the last big game he pitched. |

Perhaps Yost Knows something we don't. Personally, I like Vargas better for game 1 then Yo for game 2.

because Duffy has been one of the best pitchers on this staff. Vargas has been overachieving all season long and now he's coming back down to earth at the worst possible time.
