Would you trade J. Charles for a 2nd?
I'm listening to Cowherd earlier today and he was talking about the belief of many that "running backs are a dime a dozen." He disagreed with the saying, and said if that was the case why doesn't everyone have a Lynch or Murray or Peterson, etc.
So, it got me thinking. I've seen a lot of people on CP talk about the devaluation of RB and how you should never use a first rounder on one. With that in mind, if HB's are a dime a dozen and can be found mid-rounds, would you trade Charles for a 2nd round pick to get an player at an "impact" position and then try to replace him with a mid-round draft pick? |

No. Charles isn't a regular RB.

Charles has the highest YPC in the history of the NFL... By 5.5 yards per carry over his career. Better than Barry Sanders and Jim Brown. Trade him for a second?

Murry is a dime a dozen.
Lynch and Charles are not. You only trade those guys for franchise QBs.

Charles is great. Love the guy. But he's been used a ton. I'd push for much more than a 2nd, but would most likely settle for a 2nd for him. |

Makes sense. I, however, think he's a generational talent and has 3 good years left, and would rather tap into those years than move him now.

I get it. I just buy in heavily to the theory that's it's better to cut ties a year early than a year late.

I'm scared to death that he is gonna fall off the cliff very soon.
Of course, i've had the same fear about Hali for 3 years... so what the hell do i know. edit: Plus, I like Davis, and i think there are some very good backs who will be available late in this draft. |
