Random fact about Chiefs kickers.

Once Cairo Santos recovers and inevitably lands with a team, the Chiefs will have had groomed FOUR of the kickers currently in the NFL.

Connor Barth - Bears
Ryan Succop - Titans
Cairo Santos - TBD
Harrison Butker - Chiefs

Interesting turn of events, considering how long the Chiefs were an absolute mess at kicker for a decade or so.

Santos is the best of the four.

I think the only reason we moved on is because of $$$

Going cheap and young.

Same reason we let succup walk iirc. We've been lucky to find as-good replacements instead of trying to extend a kicker at 5MM a year.

Watching buttkicker's resiliency Monday night was impressive. We saw him grow before our very eyes. He went from a wide eyed rookie to a confident vet in the course of one game.

With kickers, confidence/defeating mental demons is 90% of the game. Much like golfers. The physical ability difference at this level outside of some all time greats like janikowsky is marginal. It's all about mental fortitude.

Buttkicker's fortitude was never broken. I sensed he was itching to go out and redeem himself. He proved himself to himself more than anyone else.

So was the sister****er for the bucs that missed 3 FGs (LOL) the same sister****er they traded up to our pick in the second round for? If so that might be the funniest thing this month.

Why do we go cheap with kickers but not punters? Colquitt is currently the highest paid punter in the league at 3.7m per yr.

As strange as it sounds, I think the talent level coming out of college for kickers is deeper than that of punters. Plus, you can go out and find a former soccer player from anywhere in the world.

Punting is less glorious than punting. The athletes who could be trained to do either tend to go towards kicking at the high school and college level. Internationally, the pool is smaller as well. The only sports that translate to punting are rugby and Aussie Rules football, and you don't have poor kids in Brazil playing those sports.

It piqued my curiosity so I looked it up.

The sister****er from tonight is NOT the guy they traded up and drafted in the second round (thanks!). His name is Roberto Agauyo. They cut him in August because apparently he sucks worse than the sister****er from tonight who is long time established Veteran Nick Folk. WOOOOOOOW!

Can you imagine this place if the Chiefs dumped a second, third and fourth rounder on a KICKER. Cut him the next year and his veteran replacement does THAT?! I want to find a board and make a logon just to read the meltdown.
