Former Chief Damon Arnette Arrested
Damon Arnette arrested on three charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia
Damon Arnette was arrested late Monday night into Tuesday morning in Miami Beach, Florida, after getting pulled over twice, according to police documents obtained by TMZ Sports. Arnette was booked at 3:09 a.m. local time on three charges: possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license. It is unclear if he has been released on bond yet, according to TMZ Sports.

In the first stop, which occurred around 8:56 p.m., police said they found Arnette was driving on a suspended license and issued him a citation, according to TMZ Sports. After midnight, police then say they saw Arnette driving the same car, so they pulled him over once again, this time around 12:48 a.m., according to TMZ Sports.

Police arrested Arnette for knowingly driving under a suspended license. During that arrest, the police searched Arnette’s person and found a small baggie “containing white powdery substance consistent with that of cocaine” in his front pants pocket, according to TMZ Sports. Police also found a straw “that was cut into a small piece resembling a device that is common for cocaine usage.”

A first-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders out of Ohio State in the 2020 NFL Draft, this is not Arnette’s first interaction with the law since going to the NFL. Arnette was released by the Raiders last November, after a video of him brandishing a gun and threatening to kill someone surfaced.

The Kansas City Chiefs went on to sign Arnette in January. However, Arnette was released just nine days later, after he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in Las Vegas.

Arnette is a free agent.

Arnette played in 13 games with the Raiders during the 2020 season and totaled 29 tackles, three passes defended, and one tackle for loss. Prior to the 2021 season, Arnette said that he was hoping to take the next step in his NFL career.

"I feel a lot more comfortable," Arnette said. "I’m healthy, and I don’t have to worry about a castThe team, we’re closer than we were last year. Just another year under our belt, so overall and on all angles — I’m confident and more comfortable."

Arnette was a three-star recruit from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 97 cornerback and No. 141 player in Florida for the Class of 2015. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite considered Arnette to be the No. 653 overall prospect, No. 62 cornerback and No. 81 player in Florida.
