Chiefs Ink Peterson, Look To Sign Ricks

America's Heartland will have a new kicker to cheer for on Sunday. NFLScoop has exlusively learned that the Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent kicker Todd Peterson and waived Pete Stoyanovich in a late Tuesday roster move. The team will also sign WR Mikael Ricks as their 5th wide receiver and that move could happen as early as Wednesday morning.

Peterson was cut in Seattle after an abdominal injury slowed him during training camp. Peterson's salary wasn't in favor either as the 'Hawks opted for rookie Kris Heppner who they later waived.

While Peterson will not kick-off, he would bring consistency to the position, something the Chiefs have lacked this season. Incumbent kicker Pete Stoyanovich is 2-4 on field goal attempts. One of Stoyanovich's misses cost them a week two victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Ricks, released last week by San Diego, brings incredible size and undeveloped talent to the position.

How reliable is nflscoop as a scource of news? If true, Petersen's signing is outstanding news. I'm not real hot on the Ricks signing. His potential is unrealized, because he is a lazy worker in practice according to reports out of SD. Maybe Gun and Mann can change that.

This is interesting news indeed but we'll see if it pans out. I've checked several internet news sites, the Chiefs, the Star, the AP, and even NFLtalk. Not a word of this.

Anybody know anything about Peterson? Is this a good deal or this going to turn out like the Aguiar for Pope situation from last season?

I don't want to make too much of this but wasn't Marty McDonald the guy who was always making this "inside scoop" claims on the other BB? And they NEVER came to pass?

Mr. Dole-

Thanks for the feedback, good or bad we need to know what the fans like and don't like.

Also, I simply ask that you trust me on the story. Being in my position, I cannot reveal my sources. It sounds crappy, but I have developed the trust of certain people. Why should I violate that trust? Thanks for understanding.

The move will happen. The only thing I am not 100% on is who the team will release when they sign Ricks.
