The band did play the song... but after they tried something else.
It was really horrible. Trust me. I was there. After each field goal, we cheered for like 4-5 seconds then nothing... crickets. |

They didn't play "Boom". They played Rock and Roll part 2, but it wasn't the Gary Glitter version. It was a heavier version..and it worked fine.
They played the Red song after field goals. |

Yeah, I don't think it's technically an "order" from the NFL to stop playing that song, just a "recommendation". I could be wrong about that.
For now anyway. Of course with the NFL, you could definitely see it be a wink-wink type thing until somebody doesn't fall in line, then it becomes an order. |
