People who otherwise might have breathing issues (particularly infants, the elderly, and people with asthma) might run into issues if they're out in it for a long time, so the general suggestion is for those groups to try and stay inside to the extent reasonable.
For everyone else, you should generally be fine in small doses, though if you do something really strenuous that makes you breathe heavily, you might notice that it bothers you a bit. So in general, you're fine unless you otherwise have issues. |

Go to the gas station and breathe in the fumes to counteract the ozone warning. That's why they tell you to fuel at night, more people off work to breathe the fumes

Residents are usually asked to not mow their lawns, fill their gas tanks or leave engines idling until later in the day. My mom has congestive heart failure and she has a terrible time with high humidity and ozone levels.

I'm sorry to hear that. What type of issues does it trigger for her?

She can't catch her breath. It's no big deal, she just stays inside a lot, which is where an 89 year old woman should be when it's 90+ outside.

More people will go to the hospital and more people will die than on a day with good air quality.

I scuba dive in Shawnee Mission Lake. Stay under until the warnings are lifted.

I've noticed that I cough a lot more on the ozone alert days. I have grass and pollen allergies anyway. It's not supposed to be in the mid 90s in early June. Seems like we go from snow to 90's in about a two week span.

I totally agree with that one. It's like we had no spring whatsoever. Maybe we'll have a prolonged fall.

In California they call it "Spare the Air" day and it means no BBQ`S, lawnmowers, etc. In the winter they don`t allow fires in fireplaces or fire pits or BBQ`s. Just more fascist bullshit using the environment as an excuse to restrict things
