Just the beginning. Just the beginning to this shocking off-season - the beginning of the building to our 15-1 upcoming season. JUST WAIT!

Any reason why they would cut him instead of, you know... trading him?

I honestly don't care how we get a good receiver - heck I don't care who it is - provided he's very good. That's all big A needs now. Big A has a lot of the pieces in place already.

Brandon Marshall is on a 3/30 contract with a line of 279 rec 2966 yards and 31 TDs in 45 games since joining the Bears. Who cuts that? If he doesn't fit with the new FO then someone will be knocking.

The old, 'Alex hasn't made chicken salad out of chicken shit, so I'll be damned if I'll let him get his hands on anything resembling chicken so I continue to complain about his inability to make chicken salad.'
So refreshing.

Averages less per catch than Bowe does.

Id lose my mind if he ended up a chief. Hes probably my favorite non chiefs player. I love how hes grown up, and how he was courageous enough to admit he has a mental ilness, and is helping spread awareness.

In Marshall's best five (of nine) seasons, he's averaged just shy of 14 yards/catch. Compare that to Bowe's average of 14.5 per reception in the top half of his eight seasons. If you really want Marshall's production then you best be trying to sign Randall Cobb to pair him with Jeremy Maclin seeing as both are younger than both Marshall and Bowe. Maclin had arguably his best year opposite Jackson's monstrous 2010 season by chipping in 15.5 per catch. Needless to say, it's not going to be financially easy for the Chiefs to get both Cobb and Maclin on the team at the same time.

Seems like he has gotten his mental stuff in check and as mostly been a badass since other than his injury last year. Find it unlikely he ends up with KC if he is somehow cut.

Not at 31. Need to be looking for guys 4 or 5 years younger and entering their prime.

FWIW, in Andy Reid's most successful season (2004), his top six receivers went as follows:
T.O (1200 yds, 14 TDs 15.6 Y/C), Brian Westbrook (703yds/6TDs/9.6), Todd Pinkston (676/1TD/18.8), L.J Smith (377/5TDs/11.1), Freddie Mitchell (377/2TDs/17.1) and Chad Lewis (267/3TDs/9.2) [Note I'm calling '04 Reid's best year in Philly given that they made it to the Super Bowl... '06, '10 or '11 were probably better statistically but the Eagles didn't make or win a playoff game in those seasons. '09 would be the closest analogue to Reid's SB run since 2004 but I won't regurgitate stats for that year unless someone impels me tomorrow.] Compare to his most successful season so far in KC in 2013: Jamaal (693/7TDs/9.9), Bowe (673/5TDs/11.8), Avery (596/2TDs/14.9), McCluster (511/2TDs/9.6) McGrath (302/2TDs/11.6) and Fasano (200/3TDs/8.7) Given that Bowe is one of the most likely cap casualties on the team, KC is more than a Brandon Marshall, Cobb or Maclin signing away from fixing their offensive struggles. Even if one of those guys is signed, you're still counting on drafting a guy in the Watkins/Benjamin/Beckham vein of rookie WR that's ready to go Week 1 (injuries notwithstanding), keeping or finding a complementary receiver like Avery to augment the existing pass catching threat in JC along with what looks like promising capability from Kelce. This isn't an offense that just needs an OL and WR signing to becoming good enough to consistently win and win when it matters in January.
