I don't mind them asking. But I don't really see any way that they can reasonably convince anyone that it's a safety issue.

Lack of a safe working environment.

"They also ask why Commissioner Roger Goodell issues suspensions and fines ''in the name of player health and safety'' while the regular officials the league entrusts to maintain health and safety are locked out"

I would respectfully disagree with this. If everyone knew the officials were allowing the WR's and CB's to "play on"...it would risk injury to either of those positions as one could take an illegal hit that the regular refs would call. I use this as an example as it was brought up in the broadcast of today's game. I don't believe it is really happening, but do see how it could be perceived that way, and open the players to a more dangerous situation.

I think the players union should feel free to take some of their own pay and put it into a fund just for the refs.

The refs were never credited with making the game safer but not having the regular ones makes it less safe? Umm Ok. |

I don't have any problems with the replacement refs, as they're just terrible (slightly more or less, depending on one's point of view) If the players/coaches/fans are tired of the game dragging on longer, well, newsflash people.
Too many advertising/commericals is the reason why a 1.5 hour football game can drag out to a 3 hour football game. Solution? Cut back advertisting/commericals = problem solved.

No, they are not. Its just the fact that playing in the NFL is inherently dangerous, but the NFL wants to pretend its just like any old office job.
