Same here, but Davis is a nice consolation option if KC can't get DJ. (KC better try to get DJ though)

first off, you're missing one of our 5th rounders....we have two.
Matt McCoy is rising up draft boards, most agree he is a 2nd or 3rd rounder, so there is little chance he will be there for us in the 5th round. I would probably prefer Taylor Stubblefield over West or Brown in the 7th round, I think he is more polished and will be a good possession receiver. Overall I really like your picks. A draft like this would fill a ton of holes and add some needed depth. Too bad our real draft will look nothing like this. DAMMIT CARL! |

I like your draft. However, I'd rather take a DB in the 2nd round. The DB's are deep in this draft, and it would be favorable for us to snatch a CB in the 2nd round rather than wait until the third round.
If McFadden is available in the 2nd, I'd say we take him. However, I do love Corey Webster in the third round...I don't think he'll last until then, but you never know. I would take Courtney Roby or the best WR available in the third 'cause we are more likely to succeed with a WR in that position than a DB. And then I agree with Easy- Stubblefield would be a steal late.

I will admit, I have no idea who those QBs are on your mock.
I guess if you want to believe we will steal Surtain then this is a decent draft. |

DAN ORVLOWSKY HEIGHT 6'5" WEIGH226 40 TIME 5.0 Pros: Has great size, accurate arm. Pocket QB, great football knowledge, leader on the field. Has the physical tools, will need time to get up to speed in the pro game, preferably 2-3 seasons of it behind a quality vet. Cons: Arm strength is only average. Not a very mobile player, takes big hits. Didn't play against great opposition at UConn. Draft Exchange Analysis: A true senior quarterback and All-America candidate who has the second most career touchdown passes (61) of any active Division I-A player, trailing only Hawaii’s Timmy Chang, and the eighth most career passing yards (7,352) of any active player…Expected to break most UConn career passing records during his senior campaign. GINO GUIDUGLI HEIGHT 6'3" WEIGHT 220 40 TIME 4.82 Pros: Very good arm, can make any throw needed. Put up great numbers senior year, tough leader who gives it all he has on the field. Lots of game experience. Cons: Can force throws at times, somewhat inconsistent in his decision-making. Mechanics need a little work, but are correctable. Draft Exchange Analysis: All-Conference USA candidate...has established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in Cincinnati history...possesses the total package of QB skills and traits—good size, arm strength and mobility...intelligent performer who picks things up quickly and makes good decisions on the field...has excellent calmness and toughness under pressure...accurate passer who throws the deep ball well...has the ability to make plays when things break down...very sound fundamentally who makes an effort to do everything right...has displayed good leadership skills from the first time he stepped on the field, bringing UC from behind in the fourth quarter to win eight times during his career. As for the Surtain deal, I'd go for a 2nd I guess...but NEXT year.

Stubblefield is a good WR--I'd have no complaints, but Brown and West are burners....4.4 versus 4.6 or somethin' like that.

Since we are dreaming....
15. Carlos Rogers 70. Barrett Ruud 99. Jerome Mathis 104. Stanford Routt 147. BAA 150. BAA 187. BAA 199. BAA 229. BAA 238. BAA Chiefs trade their (46 & 116) picks for Miami's (70 & 104) picks & Patrick Surtain. This is equivalent to giving Miami the Chiefs 3rd round pick this year for Surtain w/o losing any picks. Chiefs would add Surtain, Rogers, Ruud & Routt to their defense & grab the WR I believe will be a steal in Mathis. Maybe Carl can grab a steal in the later rounds.

If McFadden is there, or Stanley Wilson....I would be tempted at 46 to take them though.

Thomas Davis is an excellent pick, however Davis will likely be a LB. Therefore, if we picked up Davis AND Surtain- our needs for a DB is still very great as opposed to getting a WR early. Our offense can survive without another WR- it will still move the ball down the field and create a lot of scoring opportunities without a low-round WR. Therefore, I don't like us drafting a WR until, at the very least, the third round. There will be a handful of very good WR's available in the third round, so our emphasis should be on the DBs early. That is just one cosmic dude's opinion....

I'd like Orlovsky where you're taking him and he might be there after that poor showing at the Senior Bowl. Good numbers all through college, accurate, he's tall and has enough bulk. And this last part I can't take credit for but I like most of all: More than once I've seen him described as a scrappy winner who is a vocal team leader.
Give him a 2 years to develop/adjust to NFL speed and he could be quite legit in the NFL. We either get a future starter, a young back-up or a 5th rounder that doesn't pan out. Take him.
