The wife's seen it twice, and I saw it on tour a few years ago. It's a great show.
The original Idina Menzel performance of Defying Gravity (the recording) is insane. The girl we saw was great, but not quite at that level. |

The current Elpheba in the Seattle version is Dee Roscioli, she was really good. Great show. didn't know what to expect, but it was quite good. |

Never had the chance. I've wanted to, but never got to Des Moines to see it. Although there is a chance it'll come to town.
I'll take this chance to brag. We finish the renovation of the Paramount theater here in town after the flood of '08(took so long b/c of the bureaucracy of govt grants for historical restoration). The "Hard Hat" show is this Friday, for everyone involved. I installed the fire alarm system and communications network. Very happy and proud to see the job completed. Very cool building. |

I haven't seen it, but I'm familiar with it. Also have read the book, on which it's allegedly based. I say that because if you read it expecting a book version of the show, you're in for some big surprises. Some major, major, MAJOR differences. They took the premise of the book - how the Wicked Witch of the West became the WWotW - and the title and went in a completely different direction.

Saw it at the Kennedy Center in DC and it was amazing. It was my first Broadway show and I went with little to no expectations and this show totally exceeded anything I had imagined.

I saw it at the Apollo Victoria Theatre a few years ago and really enjoyed it; I've heard the off Broadway version is also pretty good.

I've never seen it, but I've heard all the music from the original Broadway version. DaFace is spot on with the Menzel sentiment - it's an INCREDIBLE performance.
