Chili Beer Please Advise

Alright, my roomies and I are clo alchoholics. Now that we have that out of the way, we're on a quest to have as many different types of beer as possible. We've done pretty well so far even trying those weird Thai beers and such. Recently we came across a batch of Crazy Ed's Cave Creek Chili Beer. I had heard rumours of such a beer but had never seen it with mine own eyes. The beer literally has a chili pepper floating in it. None of us have been brave enough to touch it yet. I guess my question is what should I expect? Is it safe to count on this as our game day beer or should we make a run and pick up some Modelo or something as back up? I have a feeling I might have to be substantially toasted to make it through the game tomorrow. (Also what food compliments chili beer in a such a way that can only be described as a culinary orgasm?)

Well whatever it is, I wouldn't probably drink that. Probably a bit too strong for my tastes.

BTW, you're up early Delt.

As I was drinking it... I couldn't help but think about the recent trend of mixing energy drinks with liquor... and it occurred to me that it's like a low-rent version of a speedball.

Just a random musing for ya.
Just what a violent drunk really needs--a boost of energy.

Of course, I didn't mean you were a violent drunk--I was just noting violent drunks in general. I checked out that site. Does this stuff really taste like candy?

Yeah I got the joke. I wonder if it really gives you extra pep? I've gotten drunk on vodka & red bulls on several occasions, but have never noticed that I had any extra energy. Seemed just the same as mixing the vodka with vermouth or orange juice...

Pretty much the same here. That nap I took around 9:30 last night has me up and drinking Bacardi & diet when decent folks are waking up to get ready for church...

You know what's an interesting sensation? Drinking while taking Hydroxycuts. Haven't done it in a long time, but that certainly gives you an odd boost of energy. Not to mention an unsettled stomach...

Not familiar with Hydroxycuts.
'Droxys used to be loaded with ephedrine and some natural herbs. Now that ephedrine has a bad name (studies show that it can cause heart damage, as well as other long term side effects) the Hyroxycuts people changed the formula. It was popular w/ bodybuilders looking to increase their stamina and some people used them for weight loss purposes....who cares? I know it lost alot of it's popularity when the formula was changed...

That's why I've pretty much stopped goin out and getting drunk at the pub. I seem to only crave Crown & diets when I'm out and I can drink ALOT of Crown w/o even noticing my consumption level. Recent changes in salary no longer allow for a $120 bar tab, unfortunately...

Yeah. I'd started collecting the little straws they give me w/ each drink so I could keep count, but the bartenders caught on and take great delight in throwing them away whenever my back is turned...

i had a couple of 6 packs of the stuff in college.but the stuff we had was called Petes cave creek chili beer(maybe they changed the name since them).

my roommate bought it one time for a cinco de mayo party we were throwing.

its not bad or good.not something i would waste the money on again.

it has a chili pepper on the bottom of the bottle, the trick is to find(or not to find) the green pepper).the sixers we had had 5 red and 1 green pepper.the green ones were hot as hell.

if you like beer and HOT chicken wings it gives you the same effect.its just a dull cheap tasting beer with a side of hot suace.

that would be my review.hope it provided come insight.

Chili beer is not that unusual. Here's an article about how to homebrew the stuff. http://www.byo.com/feature/605.html
