I'm on board as long as Morgan is gone.

I'm on board. I'm on the UT faculty (I can see Neyland stadium out my office window), but am not a big UT football fan. I saw him play against KY this year (first game attended in 10 yrs) and thought all game long that he would look very good in RED and GOLD.

HC_Chief-
IF Morgan is not on the board at #12, I would be happy with Henry. So I guess you can pencil me in as a provisional rider. Where do I sit? xoxo~ gaz brought his own cushion. |

Henry is my rookie RB of choice also. Keep a seat for me. I hope we can get him. However, I wouldn't mind if we took the best available DT or CB with the #12 pick either. Dan Morgan might be a great player, but I think we are OK at LB for another year. Our LBs are NOT as bad as our coaching staff made them look last year. With Maz in the middle and Edwards at OLB, we have Bush, O'Neal, George and Stills to play the other OLB position. Maybe not a great choice, but adequate if we upgrade at the other need areas on Defense IMO.

Cormac,
I agree that LB is not our biggest hole, but I beleive Morgan is the closet thing to a sure fire superstar at a position that we have a need.

Every year during the draft I have 3-4 players I want King Carl to select. And every year those 3-4 go long before we select at #20+. This year will be different!! There are 12 players I would love to see in red and gold. Dan Morgan, Jamar Fletcher, David Terrell, Santana Moss, Fred Smoot or Tommy Polley not to mention the RB's of Duece McCallister, Lamont Jordan, Rudi Johnson, Ladainian Tomlinson, Travis Henry or Deshaun Foster. One of those 12 WILL be there. We will not reach for a "Project". My kids wait all year for Christmas, I know how they feel because draft day is my Christmas. Now Santa Carl better come through with that new bike!!

Mr Blond,
I completely understand...The draft is my favorite weekend of the year...My wife thinks that I am nuts because I might be the only person outside of NFL personel that watches the whole draft...even day 2.... The thing that kills me is that I have a couple players every year that I go into draft day sporting wood over...Only to watch them end up playing for a team I can't stand...

Oh my, a powerful, quick, explosive RB in the first, and a powerful, quick, explosive DT in the 2nd? I seriously don't know if my heart could take it! ;) [Edited by HC_Chief on 01-08-2001 at 02:34 PM]

jl80,
I don't miss a minute of the draft. I spend my whole weekend immersed in mock drafts, analysis, player rankings, and combine #'s. By April, I am so ready for NFL I can't stand it. My wife and kids leave me alone all weekend. Mel Kiper is my hero. Not that he knows anything but that he has my dream job. I am with you about Morgan, IF he is there at 12. It looks like he may be. But I gotta say if we take a stud runner, I will be more excited than I have been since Marcus, and Joe came.

Holy cow! a powerful, quick, explosive RB in the 1st, a powerful, quick, explosive DT in the 2nd, and a bruising, powerful OG in the 3rd?! I like the way this draft is shaping up!! ;^)

Here I was thinking I was the only one who's been wishing for Travis Henry.
Besides the obvious physical qualities Henry brings, he is coming from a football factory out there on ol' Rocky Top. Yes, I realize Jamal Lewis was hurt while at Tennessee but if I recall when he was healthy, he was blocking for Henry more than the other way around. And HC_Chief, you are totally right. The answer to ending the RBBC has to be found with the Chiefs 1st Round Pick at # 12. That answer is Travis Henry. With the cap problems being as they are, forget about a veteran being the answer. It just doesn't seem conceivable. I'll throw another guy out if Henry and Morgan (or Fletcher, the CB from Wisconsin) aren't around. Florida DT Gerard Warren, who just declared for the Draft. Very talented player. Put him alongside Hicks and Clemons, and you got a solid DL.... |

Before you all start creaming your jeans, over Travis Henry, we had better find out if we have to give up our first round pick to the Rams.
