Question on DVD Burning with DVDShrink

I put a Sony DRU-700A dual layer DVD burner in Dad's computer when I was up there last month. I also downloaded the latest version of DVDShrink for him. However, of the 4 DVDs I copied to bring home, all of them have problems anywhere from 2/3 of the way though the movie to the end of the movie. The DVD player will just freeze up on a scene and you have to power off the DVD player. He's having the same problems at his place with others he has burned. He did some tweaking and when he puts the burn speed down to 2x or 4x it burns fine. Though for some reason for the last week or so, the slowest option has been 6x (same pack of DVD media) and at 6x the problem shows up again.

Anyone else had these problems?

My friend had the same problem and the problem was that his DVD player was too old or low end to handle compressed (burt) DVDs.

I'd try them on a player you know works with burnt DVDs, if they work, that's your answer.

I put them in 2 different DVD players that I have used to play DVDs I've burnt, and I have also tried to run them in the DVD drive of my 'puter.

the media makes a huge diff. Crappy DVDs like memorex will not play in my player - -

See what happens if you use a Maxell.

Do you have the latest firmware for the drive?

The latest version I can find is direct from Sony

Firmware Update VY08e

You may want to try a different brand of media if the firmware and dvddecrypter remedies dont work. His burner may not agree with what he is using.
