If the Chiefs can take advantage of a banged up Denver offense, then they have a good chance of making the playoffs (9-7) this year. If they lose and become 1-3, forget about the playoffs.

The Denver game is huge for the Chiefs. The yearly *** whipping the Chiefs gave to the Chargers doesnt impress me. A victory in Denver would.

Packfan!...

Good to see you back!

I thought you were so depressed by our good performance that you wouldn't grace us with your presence this week.

I mean, after all, Carl's O skill position draft picks are looking pretty good right now ~ wouldn't you say?

As a matter of fact, the whole draft class is!

Luz

A win this week would put is in contention for winning the division plus it would give KC a 2-0 record in the division. A loss is a killer.

KC has injury issues as well - what about Szott?

Denver's OL is playing great right now and Anderson is 100%. Gus should play well.

It would be no disgrace to lose a game in the donkey's own barnyard however this is a big BIG game. A win puts the Chiefs back in the thick of the AFC West race; a loss puts them in a huge hole. This week will tell much about the 2000 Chiefs. Was their offensive explosion last week a sign that the pieces of the puzzle have finely meshed or was it just a matter of playing a lousy team? Is the defense for real or will our young cornerbacks get toasted? Is Denver the offensive juggernaught we have been led to believe or have they just played against week defenses? Is Denver's Defense actually soft or have they just gone up against some premier offenses that can run up and down the field on anyone? I am really pumped about this game what is more fun the chance to go to a hated rival and stick it to them in their own house?

Packfan,
The Chiefs are banged up as well. Szott is out and it appears that Clemmens will also be out. Anyway, it's NOT "Do or Die" depending on how you look at things. IF the your looking at a playoff spot for this year - then yes. However,IF Chiefs are really rebuilding, which I believe they are, it is just another step in the process. The trick is to REMAIN competative while rebuilding at the SAME time. I don't want the Chiefs to "$UCK" like the Packers do right now! *grin*

Brad,
The Chiefs have not had Szott since the 1st half of the Indy game. He missed week 2 and week 3. Clemmens missed last week. Good thing we have good depth.

Luz,
I agree that Carl's draft class is looking good, but don't forget that in some cases they are replacing failed draft picks of the recent past. (Moreau for Cloud and Wesley for Atkins, Morris for Parker, Dennis - Bartee for Warfield - however Warfield was a late pick so it doesn't really apply)

I fail to see the logic when ever the rookie class of 2000 is brought up some people are always quick to bring up the fact that they are replacing failed draft picks.
Just because a previous pick has not panned out does not dismiss what this class of rookies are accomplishing.
There is not one GM in the entire history of the NFL who has not picked a bomb.
Each pick is a gamble, no one knows how the player will pan out. Who could of guessed that Leaf would be such a dude (although he may someday pan out).

Ken,

Hey. Long time since I've chatted with you. I hardly ever get to be on the computer anymore . . . it sucks!

Your thread title is appropriate, though. One could argue that the same statement could be made about the Packers 2000 season.

Seriously, though, I do agree with you. If the Chiefs lose this weekend they can forget about the playoffs. Denver and Oakland have too easy of schedules the rest of the way for the Chiefs to catch them if they start 1-3.

Alas, I must agree with Packfan here (regardless of the fact the Packers suck). The realist in me, thinking this is a rebuilding year, could take some comfort in a mere "good showing" in Mile High.
But the homer in me won't settle for a "good showing". This is THE season for the Chiefs, albeit only week 4. The schedule gets tougher. An upset win will be cause for justifiable optimism (not blind homerism), and confirmation that this is NOT a rebuilding year. No one could logically argue such a statement (emphasis on LOGICALLY).

UPSET THE DONX!!

KC Chiefs Fan...
Thanks for clearing that up. Hell, if anything that should prove that I'm not a Chiefs' fan in hiding ... I didn't know that he had been out for the last 2 weeks.

Injuries are a part of the game. I just hope Denver/KC is a great game on Sunday. I'll take a blowout Denver win, but I'd like a good game.
