Why do my regular non hd channels suck
I bought a new jvc HD TV and my regular tv gets better picture. I popped in the lord of the rings and that looked kind of crappy too it is a jvc. What a waste of money.

What cables are you using? HDMI and component video, or old school composite or RF?

Who is your cable/satellite provider?

Do you have your TV on a "stretch" mode?

Have you calibrated your TV yet?

Do you have a power conditioner for your electronic equipment?

for dvd players, you need to have a progressive scan DVD player, or it will look like crap. The progressive scan dvd's look so much better.

Regular tv will look like crap if you have it stretched out.

What happened is my dad got it and he is not happened because the dvd's look crappy and so does the regular channels. We have st joseph cable vision and we are due to get digital cable on wed hopefully that will help with the ruglar channels not just the HD

You just don't have the right cables for the DVD player. Is it progressive scan? Did you use the Red, Green, Blue component cables?

my dad called and said now the tv looks awesome. I thought we had to get a HD digital box to get the hd but maybe not.

you can pick up the HD signal for your local stations with just an antenna...4-1, 5-1, etc
