Desperately Seeking Hoffa

I am perusing the news and just observed a helicopter shot of the efforts to locate and exhume Hoffa's body. This has sponsored a question that I would like to ask my fellow Planeteers. I have, therefore, constructed this new thread which I have titled, "Desperately Seeking Hoffa".

My question is essentially this; Who cares?

Hoffa has been dead for decades. They know he's dead. We've gotten along fine without locating his dead remains. Now, we're spending 1/2 bazillion dollars to find a fully decayed corpse (they have destroyed a barn, dug up 800 acres of ground with large equipment, dozens of men are standing around watching them break concrete at likely 30 dollars an hour each, etc.), resources that could be used to find actual, real, live criminals are being expended in the effort, and the result will be finding either nothing or a completely decomposed body.

Perhaps I have converted to Mr. tk13's martynomics. But, I imagine that anyone who was involved in the killing of Hoffa is probably dead or senile now, too. So, what good can possibly come from finding this guy?

I am interested in your thoughts on this vitally important, topical, and relevant subject.

Saw that on TV.Dig up Michigan farm, seemed extreme
but the fact right before death union bosses, etc brought in a back how, then took it out later.

Lazy union guys wont dig a grave with a shovel and now will get caught with a body there.

Seems extreme to find a body unless their an
insurance question about death (faked it somehow) and
money paid out to decendants.

To answer your question Mr. Fax I can only speak for myself in saying that I personally don't care about finding this individuals remains; if there are any. I would much rather those resources go into locating Bin Laden.

Agreed....spend the resources elsewhere. Let the insurance company pay to dig him up.

That also falls in line with Cops running radar traps in rush hour,
Go do something useful and track down a real criminal.

That's a valid point, Mr. nm_dbf. I hadn't thought of the insurance aspect of it.

Yet, I'm wondering. Hasn't he already been declared dead? What would digging him up prove exactly? From an insurance perspective, I mean.

But, that's the whole thing, Mr. chagrin. If nobody cares. And, I mean nobody, who has an interest in digging him up?

The Hoffa family, sure. And, the media likes it because it's a story. But, there really isn't anyone to prosecute because the person or persons who did the deed are already dead or too old to care. So what is the government going to do with a bag of Hoffa bones?

Real proof of death? FBI? etc No reason to me, just to close the books.

Insurance paid, no real body, question of fraud if he faked it.

Not sure how much, if any Life insurance....Who would ensure a teamster leader? Policy premium must be high...

Kinda high risk job ...
