ESPN to broadcast US vs Brazil U-20 World Cup match tonight

Just a programming note for any soccer fans who were bummed they didn't get to see the team's amazing performance against Poland on ESPNU (let's not mention the horrible South Korea game). The game will be simulcast on ESPN and the U at 6:30 PM central time.

Practically speaking, the US would have to experience a massive meltdown in order to fail to qualify for the next round, but this is a really interesting test. The US had a tough time against South Korea, being unbelievably lucky to scratch out a draw, while Brazil stuck it to them until the Koreans began applying a ton of pressure in the last ten minutes. Against Poland, on the other hand, Brazil failed to capitalize on a man advantage for around 70 minutes and lost 1-0, while the slowly grew into the game and absolutely ripped the Poles to shreds with stunning goals and total domination.

Moral of the story? Youth teams can be brilliant or completely disappear. We'll see what happens tonight.

Sounds good. I know a lot of people on here like to make fun of soccer.

As far as I'm concerned, it is the only sport that is worth watching this time of year.

How's the U-20 action matching up?
I've been aware of the tourney, but haven't been DVRing it in favor of Copa Oro and MLS offerings.
There's only so many hours in a day. And only so many hours I can devote to staring at a TV while two guys are blabbering Spanish at a million miles an hour.

3 and out. That's what you get with a lineup stripped by the need to fill the Gold Cup and U-20 rosters. As disappointing as it was, in the end, we put our eggs in the right baskets. Wish we'd played the new hotness of Guzano more instead of the old and busted Keller, but whatever. That sucks. I missed afew of their games during the CA tournament. I seen the Mexico games though becuase my sisters BF is a huge Mexico Soccer fan. He goes n watches them play at times. So, we turn that shit to univision and watch them. lol
