Why are we only getting 1 pick from the Bucs?

Doesnt Tampa Bay owe us picks for Michael Bennett AND Ryan Sims? According to NFL.com we're only getting one pick from Tampa - a 6th rounder.

One of those deals gave TB the option of giving us a 6th round pick in 2008 OR 2009.

We'll take one and like it.

Hell we're lucky we don't have to give Tampa picks for taking Sims.

The package of Bennett picks combined with Sims compensation to provide us one 6th.

You can't complain about it, really. Sims was worthless and Bennett was oft-injured and almost 30.

Wasn't one of those trades made prior to last year's draft? I don't recall for certain.

From the Buccaneers website:

# On May, 2007, the Buccaneers traded their seventh-round pick in 2009 to the Chiefs for defensive tackle Ryan Sims. The trade stipulates that the pick will only go to the Chiefs if Sims is on the Buccaneers' active roster for at least six games in 2007. Sims was on the roster all season, and thus the pick did go to the Chiefs.
# On October 16, 2007, the Buccaneers traded their sixth-round pick in 2008 to Kansas City for RB Michael Bennett and the Buccaneers' own seventh-round pick in 2009. In other words, Tampa Bay reacquired the pick it traded for Sims while trading for Bennett. The deal stipulated that Kansas City would have kept that pick had Bennett rushed for 400 or more yards with the Buccaneers; he finished with 187.

So, the 6th round pick this year is for Bennett.

The Bucs gave us a 2009 7th rounder for Sims that we gave back to the Bucs because Bennett didn't meet performance criteria.

So we basically gave Bennett up for nothing, and even had he met the requirements we would have only gotten a 7th for him. What a shitty deal.

Not that it matters much.
