acer laptop not shutting off

My acer laptop (two years old) won't shut off. It seems as though everythings frozen on it, including the keyboard and power button.

What can I do to get it to shut off? It was working just fine yesterday.

What do you mean? Take the battery out of the laptop or unplug it?

It finally shut off on its own. I unlugged it and eventually it died. My roommate was on it earlier today and said it worked just fine (checked history to make sure he wasnt lookin at porn).

Sometimes the only way to get a locked system to reset is self it to pull it's power. I've had laptops lockup to where I had to unplug the battery besides pulling the power cord.

Sounds like the system ran out of battery power and then reset itself. If this happens again pull the battery out of the machine.

That wasnt shutting it off.

Side note: It won't charge, staying at 6%. It works just fine as long as its plugged in. The second you unplug it it dies.

Maybe its getting time for a new one.
