I don't expect this thread to do very well in terms of longevity, but I felt a tribute to the soon to be greatest goaltender to ever play the game is in order.

With a win today Martin Brodeur is one win shy of tying Patrick Roy's career wins record. He has a chance at a perfect ending, so to speak, for both tying and breaking the record. New Jersey heads to Montreal, Brodeur's hometown, on Saturday. If the Devils take care of business in the great white north, they have a chance to help their highly decorated on ice General earn his 552nd career victory, putting him in his rightful spot of tops among NHL netminders.

Marty is 6-1 since returning from a torn Bicep sustained just 10 games into the season.

Being a Devils fan in SW Kansas, I HATED the Avs. It got that way in 2001 when they beat my team in the Stanley Cup finals, and all my "friends" became Av fans overnight. I always respected Roy and the players they had, alot of talent, but I wanted to see them lose ever single night.

I always loved Roy's cockiness in goal, catching the puck shoving it the guys face, starting fights with other goal tenders. Other teams fans hated him, which made it fun to watch.

I have a hard time being upset about this though, the Devils are my second favorite team. It will give me something to watch in the playoff's as the Av's are sucking something horrible this year.

Not the offseason yet, we have 16 regular season games left. Hopefully we will have a ways to go in the playoffs also.

Roy was a special player thats for sure. Marty is just unlike anyone before him. He is like an extra defender with how he can handle the puck. I HATED the trapezoid rule when they introduced it. I still think they put that in just because of the way Brodeur handled the puck.
