Life What was your ASVAB score?

just curious for those of you that took it, do you remember your score?

daughter took it and scored an 88. She is graduating HS a full year early so technically this would be her Jr year, but she is doing Jr/Sr at the same time.

99 for me

88 will get you almost any job in the military though. Make sure if she does decide to do it to choose an MOS that makes the most of her abilities.

don't remember the number, but i was in the highest category or class or whatever it's called. basically it amounted to a lot of phone calls. heh.

sometimes i wish i would have given it a shot and gotten college for free, but everything turned out well either way.

I am very proud

I didn't know how an 88 was tho...it is all new to me. Never thought the military was anything I needed to know about since I had a girl... its all new to me.

The GT score is what the military uses more for jobs, it has a formula, I don't know what, but I believe the ASVAB score is a main componet.

An 88 is very good, the other number to look at is the GT (General Technical Score) Many MOSs' (Military Occupational Specialties) rely on that number. The more technical MOSs' will have longer schools and may not have signing bonuses, but I guarantee that she will be happier in the long run with a job that is more advanced and challenging.

In other words, don't do what I did...

I don't remember my score, but I did extremely well on it. Well enough that I could have entered any field I wanted to. Too bad I never enlisted and partied my ass off instead.

and what did you do? When I went back into the Reserves almost two years ago, after almost 6 years from when I got out the first time. there was a pretty nice signing bonus to come back as an MP.

That said, I still wish I would have gone for a computer IT job, training/experience, solid job security in the civilian world.....

She is majoring in Engineering in college but is leaning towards something medical for her training

I don't remember the score but my choice between MoS was legal and avionic technician, so I think it was good.

well, tell her not to get married to the idea, almost everyone changes their major at least once. then many people change careers in the first 5 years after college anyway

I went to MEPS but I honestly never seen my ASVAB scores or actually followed thru joining the military. They highlighted my name tag to be processed thru nuke school so I'm guessing it was pretty high.

I'm a technically sound moron.

Best of luck to your daughter. Those military peeps have my highest praise.

I agree

the engineering thing just came up this year. Always before it was something in the medical field.

I think she will change her mind several times before it is all over...but that is okay she is only 17

Life is full of possibilities for her right now.
