Anquan Boldin to KC?!?

There is a ESPN insider link on the front of ESPN.com talking about Boldin and James possibly coming to KC. Any one else heard any rumors? I would LOVE to have Boldin. If someone on here has ESPN Insider access, please share with the message board what this article is all about. Thanks.

No to James, unless it involves trading LJ somewhere.

Proves nothing but FWIW:

Cardinals’ cuts could impact Boldin

April 28th, 2009, 2:53 pm · 2 Comments · posted by scottbordow

The Cardinals threw a party when they signed Edgerrin James. Tuesday, Edge didn’t even warrant his own press release. The Cardinals said he was released along with linebacker Travis LaBoy and cornerback Rod Hood.

It’s no surprise, of course. James was gone the minute the Cardinals drafted Chris “Beanie” Wells. Still, it’s a bit odd to see a man who was once the face of the franchise leave so quietly and with so little fanfare.

James proved last year he still has some football left; let’s hope a team in his native Florida picks him up and allows him to be close to his four children. Their mom, Andia Wilson, died last Tuesday of leukeima.

As for the Cardinals, the release of the three veterans will save approximately $6.5 million against the salary cap. Presumably, Arizona will use the savings to try to re-negotiate the contracts of safety Adrian Wilson and linebacker Karlos Dansby.

Ultimately, that could lead to contract talks with disgruntled wideout Anquan Boldin. Any extension of Wilson and Dansby would include them having a smaller salary cap number this season. That might give the Cardinals leeway - if they’re so inclined - to try to make nice with Boldin and give him a raise.

We’re a long way from that point, of course. But in saying goodbye to James, LaBoy and Hood, the Cardinals took a step in that direction.

I dont care about James. I just want to get Boldin. We may have to package LJ though, and we would maybe need James if we were to do that.

(from last week) Again, FWIW:

Chance Boldin Stays "Pretty High"
Graves says he believes Pro Bowl wideout will remain a Cardinal
By DARREN URBAN

General manager Rod Graves said Friday he thinks wide receiver Anquan Boldin (pictured) will stay in Arizona.

General manager Rod Graves said Friday given the dearth of trade offers for wide receiver Anquan Boldin, the probability of Boldin remaining with the Cardinals is “pretty high.”

“Our priority has always been to extend Anquan at some point and we felt before doing so we had to at least explore opportunities a trade might present,” Graves said. “We have done that and the process is still not over, but it looks as if him staying with us and at least the possibility of an extension seems more of a reality than a trade.”

Graves said the Cardinals have received exactly one trade offer – he did not say from which team or what the offer was – but the Cards “didn’t feel it was very significant at all and we have had no other interest expressed.”

Later, Graves said the trade offer -- which was on Thursday -- “didn’t come close to something we would consider.”

Graves' comments were made at about the same time of an ESPN report that said teams had renewed interest in Boldin because the Cardinals had now lowered their demand in a trade to a second-round pick.

Graves has consistently declined to talk about what the Cardinals would accept in a trade.

The chance of the draft ramping up interest in Boldin is still possible, Graves acknowledged. He also said while he has had “a couple of conversations” with Boldin’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, for updating purposes, Rosenhaus has not been included in the process.

“We won’t trade (Boldin) unless it’s for commensurate value,” Graves said. “We are a strong football team with him, and the probability of him remaining with us is pretty high.”

Quarterback Kurt Warner, working out at the team facility Friday, reiterated his belief the Cardinals needed to keep Boldin and not trade him. Warner believes there isn’t a realistic trade package that would balance out losing Boldin.

Q showed up today
I'm not sure where Anquan Boldin's head is in terms of his contract, but in terms of the mystery (if there ever really was one) of whether he would come to minicamp, he indeed was at the facility today to get his physical. Doesn't make much sense to do that if he isn't going to come to minicamp. We'll have to double-check tomorrow, but with Boldin and Darnell Dockett both coming today, it looks like there won't be any absences for the mandatory minicamp.

Now, whether Boldin practices, we'll have to see. He came down with a sore hamstring at last year's minicamp -- about the time his contract issues first reached a boil. There might be some maladies for those seeking new contracts. Again, we will see. At least the drama of a missing guy will be avoided, and I would assume Boldin -- and to a lesser extent, Dockett -- will be tops on the media's interview list after practice.

ESPN Insider is such a joke. If they are getting fed info from Bill Williamson I stop reading immediately.
