Chiefs Villains: Round of 32

32 Worthy candidates left in the mix, even though you people heartlessly kicked out Elmore Stephens. Poll coming, and pick the worst villain from each pair.

I'm going to furtively look around and then bump this to the top when everybody's distracted.

Agreed. Losers, chumps, douchebags, but not villains. The only true villain is Bronco Neil.

Who are the morons that selected OT Brian Jozwiak over K Elliott.

I can say right now that Elliott is going to win this whole tournament. I just really can't see how he can't.

He'll finish 3rd to Carl and Herm.

FWIW, Todd Blackledge has turned out to be an excellent College football announcer.

It would be between him and Carl that's for sure, unless they met before the finals. Then I'd be torn between the 2.

But Herm doesn't even belong in that conversation. As much of a dumbass that he was, he was left with pile of shit as a team to work with from the idiots who drafted players in the previous regime.

Just for fun, I'm going to defend Hitler.

When thinking about villains, yes, the kicker missed three field goals. Yes, it threw us all into extended bouts of drinking and depression. Yes, it was a heinous crime that can never be forgiven.

But ponder this for a second.

The guy was a short-term solution, a pickup of a veteran. He played two years and kicked 82 percent of his field goals and 96 percent of his extra points. His kicks were in bad weather, and the Colts' kicker, a fine kicker named Cary Blanchard, missed 2 of his own 3 attempts.

Was the loss Elliott's fault? Well, if he'd have made 1 of 3 they'd still be playing. So, yes, in a way. But I think we can all agree that Paul Hackett, that evil, steaming pile of Hackett, had the worst game plan since Gallipoli for that game. It should not have even been close, but Hackett screwed it up so royally that the Chiefs only scored 7 points and needed a desperation field goal just to tie it up against Jim Freakin' Harbaugh's Colts.

Now let's take a different slant.

In 1986, the Chiefs invested the 7th pick in the entire draft on Brian Jozwiak. It was deemed an astoundingly safe pick, and nobody on the planet questioned it. Jozwiak never managed to play a full season, lasting 28 games in 3 years before leaving the league, never to be seen again.

Imagine now, if you will, that he had actually fulfilled his promise and had been the devastating tackle that the Chiefs could have used as a bookend to John Alt.

So how many playoff games would we have won if our SEVENTH OVERALL PICK had been a pro bowler instead of a guy who started 3 career games?

In 1986 our starters were Irv Eatman and Dave Lutz. (Alt was hurt and Jozwiak made 1 start.)

In 1986 we lost to the Stupid Jets in the playoffs 35-15.

In 1987 our starters were a beat-up Alt and Eatman, who both missed half the season. Jozwiak made 1 start.

In 1988 our starters were Alt and Eatman, and Jozwiak made 1 start before disappearing in 1988.

In 1987 and 1988 nobody could've helped us win.

In 1989 our starters were Alt and Eatman.

In 1989 we missed the playoffs by half a stupid game (and maybe a tiebreaker).

Szott and Grunhard arrived in 1990. (Lutz was our RG through 1992.) In 1990 and 1991 and 1992 our starters were Alt and Rich Baldinger.

In 1990 we lost to the stupid Dolphins 17-16 in the playoffs.

In 1991 we beat the Raiders in the 1st round and then lost 37-14 to the stupid Bills.

In 1992 we were shut out by the stupid Chargers 17-0.

Shields arrived in 1993. In 1993 our starters were Alt and Ricky Siglar.

In 1993 we made it to the AFC Championship and lost 30-13 to the stupid Bills.

In 1994 our starters were Alt and Derrick Graham.

In 1994 we lost to the stupid Dolphins 27-17

In 1995 and 1996 our starters were Alt and Ricky Siglar.

In 1995 we lost to the stupid Colts 10-7

In 1996 we missed the playoffs by one win (and maybe a tiebreaker).

In 1997 our starters were Jeff Criswell and Glenn Parker.

In 1997 we had our playoff win stolen by the salary cap cheating Broncos 14-10.

Right tackle was always a problem for us. With Alt manning left tackle, a good right tackle would've pushed us over the hump. Three or four pro bowls from Jozwiak, and we'd have 1 or 2 or 3 more Lombardis. You want to blame the kicker for 1995? Look at the big hole where we had every right to expect a pro bowl tackle.

Elliott takes some heat for 1995, but Jozwiak cost us in 1990, 1992, 1993, 1995, and 1997.
