Football Cowboys won't use franchise tag on Austin

We need to do the poison pill contract so Cowboys can't resign him. He and Bowe would be an excellent combo, Austin likes our coach and credits him for his development, no draft compensation, and we can eliminate Dez Bryant from draft discussion. It'd also help Cassel. I feel pretty strongly that we should spend the bucks to get him to KC.

Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones indicated that the team will not use the franchise tag on restricted free agent Miles Austin.

He's a restricted FA, right? So, you would want to give up our #5 overall and a third rounder for Miles Austin?

They can high tender him and make someone give up a 1st and a 3rd. There would be no reason to franchise him and pay him a shit ton of money.
