The Eagles Want to trade Donovan McNabb

According to a report this morning at myfoxphilly.com, there's a bit of friction within the Eagles organization about whether they should trade or keep Donovan McNabb.

It seems they're getting a lot of offers for the veteran quarterback. Head coach Andy Reid wants to keep him. "The Eagles' brass" wants to move him. In their words:

There are many interested teams out there, but right now the Eagles are not accepting any offers yet.

Sources tell Fox 29's sports department that the Rams are not one of those teams, contrary to some reports.

But we're also being told that trading McNabb is not going to be easy because internally the Eagles' brass wants to move him but Andy Reid does not.

My first thought is to give some free advice to the brass, whoever that might be: Listen to Andy Reid. He's the one on the field, seeing what works and what doesn't. He's the one who sees the quarterbacks working every day. He knows what's going to win you games, if indeed that is your objective.

If you're looking to save money, get younger and rebuild, fine. But if you want to win football games, listen to your football guy.

If true, it makes for an interesting little situation, not only in terms of what happens this offseason, but all the way through 2010. If there is significant friction, and Reid stands firm with McNabb, you've got to think that the "brass" might tie Reid and McNabb's fortunes together, based on their performance next season.

Damn I figured Vick would be the one that gets traded on draft day.Well hell I forgot about Kolb being able to start.Thats pitiful! They can trade 60% of their QB's for draft picks and still have a Qb better than any of ours.

The funny thing is that Andy Reid is the guy who makes all the decisions. He's the head guy in Philly.

If there are reports he wants to be moved, and Andy Reid is against it, it's not happening.

If they do keep Mcnabb, and they fail to make playoffs, both Mcnabb and Reid could be looking for a new team

Hes a solid QB for sure but hes always been one of those guys who always does just enough to break your heart.

I think hes probably taken that team as far has he can take them. Its probably time for both parties to part ways, but Reid cant quit McNabb sounds like.

Well GM Joe Banner has final say. And I wouldn't put doublespeak past Reid. He might want to trade McNabb but puts up this front instead, evading blame from a frustrated city when the Eagles step back with Kolb next year. And, as a byproduct of trying to save his ass, he might drive up the asking price for McNabb.

No. ****ing. Way.

Andy Reid is going NOWHERE.

Clearly, you aren't familiar with the Eagles franchise and owner.

Let him go? The guy was DONE.

Why do you think they drafted McCoy and Maclin?

Oh, and they have another playmaker named DeSean Jackson.

Westbrook wasn't even a factor in 2009.
