ICD's Tegra 2-powered Gemini is the most feature-complete tablet we've seen yet

Built around the 1GHz Tegra 2 SOC, the 11.2-inch ICD Gemini should provide comparable endurance to Apple's A4-sporting iPad, while besting it in the grunt stakes with its glorious ability to chew through 1080p video when required. If that wasn't enough, the rest of this thing's spec sheet reads like a wishlist. Headlined by a 3G connection that allows cellular voice calls (crazy, we know!), it also includes a user-replaceable 40Wh battery, an SD card reader, FM radio, GPS, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, MicroUSB connectivity to PCs and USB peripherals, stereo speakers, and dual webcams -- a 2 megapixel front-facing unit and a 5 megapixel autofocusing snapper on the back. Multitouch displays will be available in both resistive and capacitive flavors, with the 1,366 x 768 resolution being filled by Google's snappy Android OS. Oh, and did we mention it will run Flash? Because it will. Full specs and a comparison to its direct competitors await after the break, though we've yet to find out when this JooJoo killer will be making its arrival or at what price.

Again, specs aren't everything but damn it's sporting.

SMS & MMS is misleading because any wifi device can send SMS and MMS - and the great thing is that you don't have to pay extra on your 3G plan.

GPS is misleading too as I believe 3G iPads will contain the ability to have GPS.

I still think battery life will make or break this device. That and size.

I was interested. In fact, I said "damn it's sporting". If that's not an endorsement of the device, I don't know what is, especially sight unseen.

I then pointed out two areas the comparison was iffy. One was for any 3G device and one was specific to iPad, which is the market leader right now so, naturally, everything will compare to. Much like the iPhone Killers are always called.

And then I broke down what I saw making or breaking the device: battery life and size (11 inch vs 9 inch).

I don't see much Apple fanboyism in that.

maybe because you immediately responded like it was some kind of challenge for you to find something wrong with it ... call it vaporware, start talking about how the IPad was better blah,blah,blah.

I'm more than happy to read about all the slates, but I, much like IJH, read everything with a grain of salt and immediately start wondering about what's hype/unrealistic and what's feasible. It's not a big deal, it's just called critical reading.

Well, you're comment got me looking at the chart again. It's curious the way they've done the measurements. First, it isn't standard as it lists watt hours rather than battery life hours. Second, the JooJoo (which is hilarious that it's even on here, as if it's a serious competitor to ANYTHING, including Courier

) isn't listed in watt hours.

So it's hard to draw any conclusions on it. In fact, the watt-hour measurement could just mean the Gemini has a bigger battery than the iPad. It wouldn't surprise me given the screen size difference.

The widescreen format looks to me like it might make for an awkward size to hold with one hand. Hard to tell without seeing one in person...
