I'm from Pennsylvania. So I know all the YINZ jokes etc, but is it true that people outside of our community measure distance by miles rather than time?

We categorize distance by the amount of time it takes to get there.

For example, I'm 2 hours from Pittsburgh and 4 hours from Philli. 20 minutes from an AIDS TREE.

Are we the only people that do that?, or is there some sub knowledge that miles= a certain amount of time?

Lurker debate so feel free to Anti Freeze, HAARP, or whatever.

Miles are accurate. Time-to-drive differs from one person to the next. Most people I know speak in terms of miles.

I do it by time, not minutes because it can vary depending on roads and traffic.

A lot of people can't do simple math, hence the use of "time".

20 minutes is a big city can mean 2 blocks, 20 minutes in the country could mean 17 miles.
