Best Defense since 97' ??????

Rany Jazayerli
The Chiefs have allowed 31 points in their last four games. That is the fewest points allowed by the Chiefs in a four-game span since the 1997 Chiefs allowed 29. I repeat: THE CHIEFS DEFENSE HAS JUST HAD ITS BEST MONTH IN 22 YEARS. Merry Christmas, everyone.

If we lose 40-38 in the playoffs, we will all be bitching and moaning and saying how bad our defense was and how much of a fake they were.

As excited as I am, and I’m sure you are, let’s not pre-ejaculate.

Hell yeah. After that Titans debacle these guys got together and said "ok enough of this shit" and turned things around in a huge way. It's been amazing. Our offense has been able to glide through these last 5 games (and probably the 6th and final game too lets be real). It should pay dividends in the playoffs when Andy can fully unleash his real offensive gameplan.

He's one of the worst starters, IMO.

If you had never heard of Tom Brady and saw him play for the first time this season, you'd be wondering how the **** he made it onto an NFL roster.

Problem is that there's no litmus test for the next few weeks. You got Chargers, Titans/Steelers/Raiders and then Patriots. I suppose if we shut down the Titans and Derrick Henry in that first playoff game, I'll believe we can stop the Boogeyman and be legit. Mathieu and Clark coming on at the right time is a great sight to see, with Jones playing up to his normal standard and Suggs coming in to facilitate, we look legit for sure.

If you use the numbers for the last 9 games, starting with the Denver game, and extrapolate those numbers over 15 games, we would be:

6th in total defense at 310 yards
4th in pass defense at 202 yards
15th in rush defense at 108 yards
2nd in scoring defense at 15.9 points

Probably one outlier on pass defense, 345 to Chargers, and run defense 225 to Titans in that stretch too.

Defense has given up 4 TD's in the last 5 games. Out of those 4, 1 came after a blocked punt, 1 came in garbage time against OAK, and 1 came on a freak drive with 2 PI's and a trick play.

Hasn't given up a TD in 75min 13sec of game play.

If you look past the short field TD after the blocked punt, it's been 117min 43sec

If, for fun, you acknowledge that as a weird "fluke" drive itself, you have to go back to the Chargers TD as the last time the Chiefs defense has given up a real full length TD drive. It's been 197 min 40 sec of game time since that happened.
