Reminds me of the horse head scene in The Godfather.

The only time I recall a team looking unstoppable in pre-season and carrying it into the regular season was the '98 Vikings who then proceeded to go 15-1 in the regular season.Of course the Dirty Birds then derailed that train in the NFC Championship.

Yes. Backups play the majority of the game and the games count towards the playoffs.

The Chiefs need to win a preseason game or two. IMO I think that matter right now.

I think teams that know how to win, winning in the preseason is irrelevant. But for the Chiefs to begin to shed the loser mentality, they need to win games, even if it's just preseason.

I can't see how that could possibly matter when the guys that would be trying to win in the preseason won't be the same ones trying to win in the regular season.

Preseason football is such a complete waste of time, it's hard to even talk about it.

I am only speculating, but I just think even if you recognize that as a player going into the regular, you do, on some level, begin to press, feeling the need to win when your team hasn't been.

The only one I ever felt mattered was the 3rd, primarily because the starters play the majority and even then it's more about making it a game rather than the win.
I don't think you can evaluate a preseason game in terms of a win. Even great teams don't go undefeated in the regular season. However, I think what we saw after last years 1st preseason game was indicative of the season. We didn't look competitive when the starters were in and looked worse when the backups played. |
