Hey STL Planeteers

Papasmurf and I will be in town in September. We are going to the afternoon Nationals/Cardinals game on 9/25, the Niners/Rams game on 9/26, and staying in the Hilton at the Ballpark. Looking for suggestions on restaurants/bars/shopping within walking distance. Also, would love to meet up with some of you that Wednesday evening (9/25) if you're available.

Do not go to Mike Shannon's. **** that.

Tons of options near the Dome on Washington Avenue. For lunch, stop by the London Tea Room.

Be sure to take notes on a winning baseball team, and report back to us. Thanks!

Mike Shannons was great when we went, although my buddy played football at KU with the general manager.

Broadway Oyster Bar right across the street from the stadium is a great little dive.

As aRoyals fan, I would ask you simply: How? Why?

Funny story - made a desktop theme bet with one of my Cub fan co-workers over a Cubs/Cards game, and she lost. I picked a really obnoxious Cardinal-themed background, and she had to leave it on her office computer for a week. When she first saw it, she pointed to an object in the center and asked me what it was. I told her it was a World Series trophy.

She seriously had no idea what one looked like.

Not trying to be obnoxious, but it's a couple blocks south of the stadium. And I concur it is a great dive bar.

To luv, Paddy O's is right across from the ballpark but gets pretty crowded. BBs blues bar is on the walk on broadway towards broadway oyster bar. For my money though, I usually pre game at big daddy's in Soulard and take their shuttle to and from the game. There are many good bars in the Soulard district and its only a mile or two south on broadway from be stadium. Social house, Molly's, bar 101 (3am bar), lywellyns, etc.

You should give novack's a try I have a feeling you'd love it.

1120 KMOX is a humongous AM station that even reaches spring training in Florida and can be heard in Mexico.

They've been Cardinals station for forever

It's how I was raised. I was a Cardinals fan long before I was a Chiefs fan. And, as stated several times before in several different threads to all of the KC people that just don't get it, it's common for people in Springfield to be Cardinals/Chiefs fans. Those are the teams that local media cover, etc.

Novack's closed up shop, but there are many other simalarly "themed" bars in the Grove.
