Gonzalez was almost an Eagle in '08
Report: Eagles, Chiefs had Agreed on Gonzalez Deal in 2008
Posted by Fightin For Philly on October 26, 2013 · Leave a Comment The Eagles have always seemed to be one major piece short of a championship team. In 2008 – the very year the Phillies won the World Series for Philadelphia – it seems the Eagles were closer to a championship than we thought. This was revealed today on a CBS radio show by Jay Glazer. A report has surfaced that the Eagles and Chiefs had agreed on a deal for 13-time Pro Bowler Tony Gonzalez. The deal struck between the two sides was a 3rd round pick and another player for Gonzalez. The deal was struck about 25 minutes before the trade deadline, and the Packers were reported to have a similar deal done with the Chiefs as well. Gonzalez was told he could pick which city he wanted to play for. The deal fell through, as Kansas City requested a 2nd round pick. Gonzalez, Glazer reports, was furious with the way in which the Chiefs handled the situation. The Chiefs ended up dealing Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft. Gonzalez has not posted a 1,000+ yard season in 5 years with the Falcons. However, he still has tremendous hands and playmaking ability, and the 37-year old still has the talent and ability to be a difference maker on the field. The Birds made it the the NFC Championship game that season. Could they have went even further – won that elusive Superbowl that year – with a superstar like Tony Gonzalez on the squad? We’ll never know. Read more at http://fightinforphilly.com/2013/10/...vF22jTLXexu.99 |

Wow. So Carl Peterson would have gotten more for Tony G than Pioli.
Color me unsurprised.

We could have taken Mike Wallace or Lardarius Webb in the third round in 2009.
Of course Pioli took Alex Magee. With one more pick would he have chosen another shitty player?
