Different KC recommendations for food and drink
One of my friends who owns a local traditional craft cocktail bar and bakery is looking to head up to KC over spring break. She's looking for: "local indie shopping districts, classic cocktail bars, and good food in Kansas City....ready? GO!!"

BBQ joints have already been covered. People have also recommended Bluebird Cafe, Westside, Manifesto, Blue Nile, Harry's Bar and Table.

On cocktails, she wants classic cocktails, not the exotic mixology stuff.

The majestic is a good steakhouse/live jazz. I'd recommend the crossroads district to her as well.

Affare is a really cool German place.

My neighbor is the head bartender at Manifesto, his drinks are legit. He's in the process of opening his own whiskey cocktail bar, Julep, in Westport this spring.

Ale House just opened in the old Streetside Records building in Westport yesterday. They specialize in beer cocktails. I'm heading there tonight for a little preheat before some shows.

The sazeracs at Lagniappe in the Crossroads are exceptional. I've had a few good cocktails there, but that one stands out.

Also if she's into indie have her checkout the crossroads district downtown. Theres a dope jazz bar called the green lady lounge that place is phenominal. Grinders is a good eat too.

I'm dying to go there. Sadly, every time I go up to KC, we end up just hanging out at relative's houses with all the kids and no one wants to go out. It's a bummer, because we don't get to see anything there. Before we all had kids, we would almost always go out on adventures there.
