Need some website feedback!
Ok, many of you have already seen early versions of this but now it's almost complete and I need some feedback while I finish up the last few sections.
www.BarSalesMap.com Basically it is for bar owners, liquor distributors, event planners and other bar industry people. It has sales data for every bar in Texas. It also has Facebook activity data for most bars and a bar detail page that also shows G+ data, Yelp, etc. If any of you guys have a few minutes, it'd be really helpful if you could see if it all works and give me any suggestions you might have. It will also help me to build the FAQ based on any functionality/usage questions you guys have. The test login is test@barsalesmap.com with password=test EDIT: DO NOT try it on your phone, it won't fit. It is built for 1000px wide or more screens. I'll add a mobile version down the road. Oh, and yes I know the front page is empty.. the text for that is being edited right now actually. That's not a concern. The meat of the site is behind the login (or in the demo)

Well hopefully drunks won't be using it. It's for bar OWNERS not bar patrons.
It's not for the consumer to use at all. This is industry data/business intelligence that is useful only to people who are in the industry. |

Was freezing up on me. Don't know why. Seems like too much info on the map or something. Google maps shows most of the info after you put the curser over the marker. I don't know if that is the reason things get bogged up. Another thing, When I was in Fort Worth, I hung out in the stockyards area. Those bars got punked. lol

Yelp's terms and conditions don't allow the storing of their data but the bar info page shows the average review rating and links to the yelp page for further research if necessary.
If I can find away around their policy I would like to add the yelp rating to the DB so you could run reports on it but that really isn't as important as you would think. The reason being that yelp ratings are a drop in the bucket when compared to the effect of FB activity on a bar's sales. Same for twitter. Twitter is almost completely useless for bars. (although I have written some interesting code that may change that) |

Dammit! I thought it was a cool bar finder app thing. I clicked on the maps and stuff that open on the dashboard. Pretty slick!

Which is why you should have seen a popup warning you if you tried to load a ton of bars at once. I get around that issue mostly by defining smaller sub regions. I haven't loaded all the subregions into the system yet. Austin is the only town that is close on that. |
