Top Sports Report: Kansas City Chiefs' Big Board
Meh.
http://topsportsreport.com/scoresnfl...aft-big-board/ Kansas City Chiefs 2015 Draft Big Board By Devereaux Frazier Updated: March 11, 2015 With the NFL combine complete, general managers can now take step back and look at all the players that attended the combine this weekend. From combine studs like Marcus Mariota and Danny Shelton, to surprises like Jake Fisher and J.J Nelson, each will be intensely scrutinized as teams are looking to become better this upcoming season. The Kansas City Chiefs enter the draft with needs along the offensive and defensive lines, as well as wide receiver, linebacker, and safety. Good for them, neither of those positions is particularly lacking in depth or talent. With that being said, here is my first Chiefs 2015 draft big board, which will contain the top 10 players that fit the needs of the Chiefs. 1. La’El Collins, Tackle (LSU) While some scouts may have Stanford tackle Andrus Peat behind Pittsburgh tackle T.J Clemmings, I didn’t like what I saw from Peat at the combine. He looked tired and worn out in the pass protection drills trying to move his massive lower body, and if he gets tired and worn out in pass protection in the NFL, it could spell his doom. Collins looked more athletic and unlike many scouts, I believe he can be a successful tackle. 2. Amari Cooper, Wide Receiver (Alabama) With a major need for a wide receiver, Amari Cooper would be the perfect fir for the Chiefs offense. Despite his height(just 6’1), he is a game changer with excellent speed, hands, and route running ability. Amari can line up on the outside, or play in the slot, and with his aforementioned route running ability, would thrive in the short-pass offense of Andy Reid. 3. Kevin White, Wide Receiver (WVU) If Amari is off the board, then the next best wide receiver in this draft is Kevin White. White is tall and physical with great hands. While not as athletic as Amari Cooper, White has a larger catch radius and his 4.35 40 time at the combine disproves any questions about his speed. 4. DeVante Parker, Wide Receiver (Louisville) It may seem crazy that I’ve got three wide receivers in a row on this big board, but when you have a big need, players that fill that need tend to keep reappearing. Parker is taller than Cooper, but like him he is deadly after the catch. The only reason I have him under Kevin White is because he isn’t as physical and missed most of the 2014 season. 5. T.J Clemmings, Tackle (Pittsburgh) With tackle being another position of need for the Chiefs, Clemmings would be a solid pick in the first round. He is a more polished tackle than La’El Collins, but is tough in the run game as well. I was concerned about him after a poor Senior Bowl, but he came back with a solid combine. 6. Benardrick McKinney, ILB (Mississippi State) With Derrick Johnson coming of ACL surgery, inside linebacker might be a bigger need for the Chiefs than most realize. Derrick Johnson is getting older, and the Chiefs need to find the future of the position. McKinney, who stands at 6’5, is a solid tackler and a very good blitzer, a trait valued in Bob Sutton’s defense. McKinney would have a great tutor in the veteran Johnson, and in time would start in his place. 7. Andrus Peat, Tackle (Stanford) I’m not as hyped about Peat as I was a few months ago, but his abilities at the position cannot be overlooked. He is dominant when asked to run block, and his pass blocking isn’t far behind. I am concerned about fatigue at the next level, but the ability is there for him to be an elite tackle. 8. Devin Funchess, WR/TE (Michigan) While his 40 time(4.7) at the combine might indicate he would be a better tight end, I think he can play wide receiver. He plays faster than what his 40 times indicate, and he is a matchup nightmare. His hands might need work, but the downfield playmaking ability is there. Funchess can out-jump most defenders, and he would be another athletic tight end on the Chiefs offense. Pairing him with Travis Kelce would create chaos for any defense trying to stop them. 9. Landon Collins, S (Alabama) With Eric Berry still recovering from cancer and Ron Parker and Kurt Coleman testing free agency, the Chiefs safety position is one really big mess. Landon Collins is an excellent run stopper with excellent playmaking ability. While he may be criticized for being a ”box safety”, I think he has the playmaking ability of a free safety with the toughness and strength of a box safety, which reminds me of current Chiefs safety Eric Berry. 10. Trae Waynes, CB (Michigan State) 2015 will be a contract year for starting cornerback Sean Smith, meaning the Chiefs need to look for potential starting cornerbacks. Waynes is tough, physical and has the ability to lock down the opponent’s top receiver. The Chiefs could bolster their already great defense with this pick. |

Collins and Cooper would most likely be at the top of the Chiefs board. They most likely won't see either, but when you put your board together, you plan for contingencies like a player falling or trade up or whatever. And I know Dorsey does extensive work in terms of player evaluation for the Draft. I'm sure his board is much deeper than the Pioli 2009 board which was rumored to have about ten guys on it that Pioli himself liked after telling the Chiefs scouts to what amounted to go hump themselves.
I understand McKinney, Waynes and the thought process on Landon Collins, but the Chiefs don't give Parker that level of money to bench him for a front box rookie. Funchess that high is a complete waste of a pick for this system. They need a tight end who can rock dudes off the line of scrimmage playing inline as well as having hands on the outside. (Loves me some Jeff Heuerman for this team/system.) |

Cooper and Collins should reversed in order, and there are a number of players that he just completely eliminates from consideration.

Oh, I know, but both Cooper and Collins are the best at their positions in this draft as well as being the two biggest need positions for the team. I understand the thought process for these two. The rest, not so much.

I don't think this guy knows much about our team in all reality. Brings doubt into any of this persons "insights".

Yes I know.
I was simply pointing out that the writer is a tard who undercut any credibility he might have had coming in.

I'm not sure what happened after he said that La'el Collins is higher on his board than Amari Cooper, but I don't really care.
He's an idiot. EDIT: Okay, I went back and reviewed the rest of his board. I saw Devin Funchess on it and blacked out. Then I came to and saw Landon Collins on there and threw up a little. Then at the very end I saw Trae Waynes....at 10....behind Devin Funchess and Bernadrick McKinney. DEVIN ****ING FUNCHESS!!!! Now I don't think he's an idiot - I think he's a plague on society and should kill himself. That list is too stupid to wipe my ass with.
