Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy lists expectations for Patrick Mahomes
Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy listed some expectations the Chiefs have for rookie QB Patrick Mahomes on Sunday when he makes his first career start against the Broncos:
1. Win the game. 2. Get the ball out on time. 3. Avoid turnovers. 4. Don’t try to make too much happen. “He’s a dynamic playmaker,’’ Nagy said. “He’s proven that his entire college career. Now (he’s) playing with the big boys and you’ve got to understand that you’ve got to play within the system but still let your talents show. There’s a balance there. How is he going to transition into that balance?’’ http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-40013928-4 |

My expectation for Nagy. Run damn ball and who cares if we win. Keep our QB safe for next season.

We want to see how much development Mahomes has undergone through a live-fire test. Those are solid, reasonable expectations for Mahomes. I especially like the 'get the ball out on time' bullet because that was one pesky trait I noticed from him in pre-season. His desire to find the big play is admirable and ultimately a good thing, but he often freelanced a bit and put the offense out of sync (only to pull the play from the fire by buying time). He'll be truly great when he stops creating scramble drills and only resorts to them when all hell has broken loose. He can do a fair amount to demonstrate that he's made those strides on Sunday. I'm excited to see what he can do and how far he's come. If all you care about is bubble-wrapping the guy, why would you want to see him out there at all?

The Chiefs fans need a late Christmas present and this is it. If Mahomes throws 2 TDs and shows off his talents vs Denver, then a playoff loss has much less sting. We can go into the offseason with great anticipation of 2018.

I hope he has at LEAST one turnover because I want to see the whining on here when it happens.

I'm afraid that there will be growing pains trying to work on goal #2. The air raid offense thrives off of extending the play to expoit the inferior defensive talent seen all across college football.

Me too. I think it will be clear he isn't ready after Sunday. Harris and Talib will feast. The emotional pain expressed here of finally understanding Alex will start in 2018 will be epic. Last edited by Black Bob; 12-28-2017 at 02:42 PM.. |

God you are a whiny ****. Cant you just enjoy watching him play without trying to make some type of point? Nothing that happens is going to help repair your football acumen on here.
