He was doing radio ads for Tickets4Less last year. They were on a lot. Kinda wondered if the Chiefs signed off on it as he was promoting it as the BEST place to buy Chiefs tickets.

Yes, I read this the other day and I think it has a lot to do with the way he was raised by his dad being in professional baseball. It says a lot for his upbringing and alot for his character .
Mahomes knows his endorsements will come but he wants to earn them. His words. Also he does a commercial here local(close to Lubbock) with a car dealership that was made some time around his draft. |

But, this is also an easier decision for him than others. His parents are rich. They live a comfortable life. I would bet most NFL players grew up poor. Want to get their mother a house in a safer neighborhood. Buy themselves stuff they never could before. Mahomes fails and doesnt get that big money, his parents can set him up in anything he wants to do post football. Thats not a diss on Mahomes. We cant chose our parents or the circumstances of our birth. It shows that maybe he has that drive to be the best he can be even after he gets his money and fame. Not to compare but a "a maybe analogy", we all know that the drive to be the best after you get the money and fame is rare. Jordan, Magic, Pujols, Brady all had that competitiveness that drove them. In Brady's case, his parents weren't rich but comfortable enough to give their son a start post football if it didn't work out. I'm cautiously optimistic that we have found a true QOTF.

I think the difference is he took endorsements for the “team” and not for “Pat Mahomes”.

I think his dad was in his ear about how to handle the vets in the locker room...and not to step on Smith. It was a smart play... |

It's interesting though, because the old expression about not drafting from rich backgrounds was mentioned with Rosen this year.
“You know the former Princeton [basketball] coach Pete Carril?” this person said. “The saying he had was, ‘Don’t ever recruit a kid with a three-car garage and a long driveway.’”
