Well, add my uncle to the list of "I wish they could see this"
Just before kickoff, my dad calls and says that my uncle wasn't answering the phone so my cousin went to check on him and found him dead in the bathroom. It was pretty sudden. Dad was there yesterday and said he wasn't feeling very good but was otherwise fine.

It's a pretty tough pill to swallow. He was always great to me. He worked with Dad on the farm when I was a kid and always had a great attitude and was really supportive of me, even when everything went to shit on the farm. Really taught me a lot about how to handle myself in the workplace. Even now, he's always willing to help or give me a ride to the tractor or whatever. Even hauled some corn this fall. Always great to have around or bounce ideas off of.

Anyway, on a day that should be one of the happiest in my sports life, I find a way to be sad.

Fortunately the Chiefs managed to not make it not an all-time shit day.

Man, the fight that this team showed is truly compelling. And the fun these guys have warms my soul to a huge extent. Moreover, they're not only likable guys, but they will not be denied. San Fran looks horrifying, but so did Henry before today.

This place too, means a lot to me, personally. There are a lot of people here that are real life friends, and many more that I'd be happy to call a friend. The cathartic effect of being able to say horrible things to each other or about other players can't be understated.

My Uncle Mike, who lived in Lee's Summit and was a life-long Chiefs fan, died in the fall of 2018. He died of dementia, and while he knew about Mahomes, he was too far gone to be able to appreciate his play before he passed.

He would have so loved today.
