Any boxing fans here? Recently me and a few buddies have had our own little sparring sessions in my friends back yard and it has been a blast! We got 16oz gloves, head gear and mouth piece (nut-cup is optional). At first there were only 3 of us just messing around while my buddy was "training" for some sort of tough man contest...(he took first in a small contest locally) He kept trying to get guys to come over and spar with him and nobody would do it. He finally talked me into it and he is regretting it. We are both heavy weights but I outweigh the guy by about 30lbs, besides the fact that I lift weights 4 days a week and he NEVER lifts so Im much stronger than he is too. He was quick but I had all the power. Three one minute rounds is the format. Our bout didnt last one minute...he came at me with alot of speed but no power so I just stood there and took it, when he got close enough i would just unload a hard hook into his temple! BOOM! he goes down! Gets up....BOOM, he goes down. He gets up, BOOM....he is no longer training for the tough man contest. What a blast! Now we are trying to set up a weekly beer-drinking sparring sessions.

I don't really box, but I do occasionally hit people when they're not looking and then run off.

Me and my friends used to box all the time. Fun stuff. I've had the crap beat out of me before, but I usually win.

I was stupid enough to box a guy who was about 40 pounds heavier and about 6 inches taller. I seriously didn't touch him with my gloves once. I didn't realize how much harder it is to get inside on a tall guy. It's okay in fighting because you can take them down, but in boxing they basically beat the shit out of you. Fun stuff though.

am I rambling tonite?

Yeah, but we just attribute it to all of those hits to the head that you took.

I used to box as a kid at the Parrish House down in Argentine it was a lot of fun. I boxed a little when I was in the Navy but the competition was a bit much.

I've wanted to do this for quite some time.

Make it mandatory you have 1 beer in between rounds. Chug it, get back in there. I'd recomend no less than six guys so just in case someone gets a little too "into it" it can be stopped.

However, boxing gloves and headgear are NOT cheap....

Nah. I'd say 3 or 4 rounds max.

Your friends do the scoring.

It ends after 4 rounds or when one feller says "no mas, no mas..."

I'm sure if I say..beer bonged a couple beers and got hit in the stomach hard, I would puke. Maybe even after 2.

I've had boxing gloves since college......my brother, roomate and I regularly Sparred...and had a heavy bag in the living room for a while.

When I was going to the gym, I'd spar with several guys who did the "ultimate fighting" stuff......Some I worked with Wrestling throws etc, and was the fast hands or whatever for a couple of the bigger guys..................Until one of the dumb fuggers dislocated my elbow.

Its good exercise and sport, until someone gets mad..........and someone usually gets mad. Swing to score, not to hurt your buddy.
