Actually, in the 1st preseason game he had 29yds. Still pathetic, however.

I checked a lot of the old mock draft sites that offer scouting reports (like nfl draft countdown) but they had already taken down the scouting reports from the most recent draft.

here is the only one I could find.
-------------------------------------
The good: Has been a productive performer over his four college seasons, starting 39 of 40 games. A good developmental prospect who has the attributes of a future NFL passer. He set school career and single-season records over his four starting seasons. Has a live arm with a compact delivery and has developed a nice understanding of defenses. He is quick in his setup and has the mobility to avoid the pass rush. As a senior, he was 217 of 339 for 3,296 yards and 29 TDs.

The bad: He needs work on the finer points of the position to maximize his fine arm and athletic ability.

Outlook: Could become a regular in the right setting with development. Faces a tough learning curve as a No. 3 QB. A sleeper prospect and a good late pick with upside potential.

Overview
An exciting dual-threat, small-school QB, who is really rising up the charts. Named to the Walter Payton watch list in the preseason and finished 7th in the final voting for the award given annually to the best player in Division IAA. Received plenty of all-American recognition after producing an outstanding 167.4 efficiency reating in 2006. Showed marked improvement his senior season. Has been a leader since the Chants instituted football. Did not even play QB his senior year in high school, and that is why Coastal was the only school to recruit him as a QB.

Strengths
Good size, strong and fast. Smart, efficient and very mobile. Makes all the throws. Knows when to pull it down and run. Has gotten much, much better at game management and has improved every year. Has a big league arm, and throws a very nice, catchable ball. Feels pressure and knows how to avoid it. Throws well on the run--something he has worked hard to improve upon. Can fill in as an emergency P and PK.

Weaknesses
Not quite as big as you would like. Needs to show more touch at times. Not the most accurate passer around, but played his best (and was at his most accurate) in the biggest games. Collar bone injury needs to be fully checked out.

Projection
Hard to say because Coastal Carolina is such a relative unknown, but he is very, very good...perhaps the best pro QB prospect in IAA football and should be drafted late or be an early UDFA phone call.

Thanks for the updated stats. The page I saw didn't list his first game.

Eagles interested in QB Thigpen
Minnesota Vikings coach and ex-Eagles offensive coordinator Brad Childress told a radio station in Minneapolis this morning that the Eagles are interested in QB Tyler Thigpen as a possible emergency replacement for backup A.J. Feeley, who broke his left hand in the Eagles’ final preseason game.

Thigpen was a seventh round pick of the Vikings this year and the team is trying to sneak him through waivers and onto their practice squad.

“They’d be within their rights to do it,” Childress said on WCCO. “[But] I’d be sick.”

VIKES CAMP: QB Thigpen Takes Road Less Traveled To NFL (August 13)

Spent about 10 minutes interviewing Vikings quarterback Tyler Thigpen earlier today. It's hard not to root for this kid. A 23-year old who played at Division 1-AA Coastal Carolina, Thigpen didn't get ANY Division One college scholarship offers. At 6-1, maybe didn't have quite the size colleges wanted. But I learned something about his history today. As a senior in high school at Fairfield Central High in Winnsboro, South Carolina, coaches asked him to switch from quarterback to running back after one of his teammates got hurt.

"I said, if I can help the team out in any way I'll do it," Thigpen recalled. "I wasn't getting looked at by many people because we were not a passing team. "I didn't get any offers at quarterback, and Coastal (Carolina) was the only team that offered me a full scholarship. They asked me if I wanted to play tight end or quarterback and I said that if I had the opportunity to play quarterback again, I'd like to do it. They brought me in as a quarterback."

And Thigpen made the most of his opportunity. His first 3 seasons, Coastal Carolina prioritized the run. In Thigpen's senior season, that philosophy changed, and he threw for 3,296 yards and 29 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. Despite that effort, he wasn't invited to the NFL scouting combine, but impressed the Vikings scouts at his pro day. He now joins Tarvaris Jackson, another Division 1-AA quarterback from Alabama State, on the Vikings roster.

"They must see something in us that a lot of other teams don't see. Me and Tarvaris..we are excited that they've given us an opportunity to play football."

In Thigpen's NFL pre-season debut last Friday night at the Metrodome, Thigpen turned some heads completing 3 passes and scrambling for 18 yards in limited work against the Rams.

"I thought the coaches prepared us well enough going into the game. So I wasn't surprised by anything. I was more or less excited. 1st time I've ever played before a crowd of 60-thousand. It's fun to play in front of a big crowd like that. A crowd has a lot to do with your emotions as a team. It's definitely a big change coming from a 1-AA program. But going against our defense helps out a lot."

For now, Thigpen fights for a roster spot on the Vikings opening game lineup. In some ways a long shot, and a long way from Myrtle Beach.

"A lot of people-coming out of high school-said I couldn't do it. So that pushed me to try harder in college. And some people may be questioning me now, saying that I can't make it in the NFL. So you have to come out every day and work as hard as you can. Being a kid that's a dream, but you never think it's going to happen. So I' excited for the opportunity. But I don't know of many people that had a story like mine."

Vikings' Thigpen a quick study, and he has to be
Tyler Thigpen didn't pass much until he was a college senior; now he's trying to learn an NFL offense.

By Judd Zulgad, Star Tribune

MANKATO — The play call was about as simple as it gets. Tyler Thigpen, preparing to take his first NFL snap in the fourth quarter of the Vikings' preseason opener Friday night, had his receivers set to run "go [deep] routes." Thigpen's job was to find one of them.

And then the ball was snapped. The rookie went too deep on his drop, putting pressure on the left tackle. A Rams defensive end flew into the backfield, and any thoughts Thigpen had of throwing the ball vanished. Instead, he scrambled to the vacated left side for a 12-yard gain and a first down at the Vikings 40.

To most everyone watching it looked like a pretty good beginning for Thigpen. Quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers didn't share that sentiment.

"We probably had 10 minutes to talk about that play before he went in the game," Rogers said, chuckling at the memory. "He may have ended up making a good play, but he didn't have to put himself under the duress that he did."

Consider it another moment in Thigpen's continuing football education. He has been getting a crash course in running an NFL offense since being selected by the Vikings with the first of their two seventh-round picks in April's draft. His college experience came at Division I-AA Coastal Carolina — a program that focused on the running game for Thigpen's first three seasons.

Compare that to Drew Henson, the guy Thigpen is competing with for the No. 3 quarterback spot behind Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger. Henson spent his college career playing before national television audiences and crowds of more than 100,000 fans at Michigan Stadium; Thigpen considered a good crowd at Coastal Carolina to be 10,000. National TV coverage was never a concern for the Chanticleers.

However, Thigpen appears to have a good shot at earning a roster spot. He played the final two series against the Rams — Henson did not appear in the game — and completed three of six passes for 29 yards, while being sacked once. He also rushed for 18 yards on two carries.

Rogers called Thigpen's performance "kind of enigmatic."I thought he handled himself pretty well as he got more used to the situation," Rogers said.

Thigpen said he continues to learn each day about how to best run the West Coast scheme.

"This offense is a lot more complex than what I was used to," he said. "As a quarterback you're accountable for a lot. The plays are really long and each and every section of the play has something to do with a section of the offense. Whether it's a protection call, what a receiver is doing, just things like that."

Rogers said the 6-1, 216-pounder has all the physical attributes to play in the NFL and makes it clear Thigpen has become a much quicker study in recent months.

"Where he has come in terms of being a quarterback and learning this offense in a relatively small amount of time is really incredible," Rogers said, noting that Thigpen didn't even play quarterback his senior year in high school. "When he first got here, it was the one-room schoolhouse. It was he and I. And it wasn't happening really quick. The verbiage and the wording is so long. After a while, he started to pick it up and get the mental picture of what he was saying. So he's coming along really good."

While Thigpen has proven to be earnest in the classroom, he also has gained points for not being anxious on the field. Childress referred to him as "kind of an unflappable kid," adding, "you take it for ... disinterested isn't the word, but he just kind of looks at you. Not a real emotional guy. [You're] not sure what's rolling around in there all the time."

This isn't necessarily a bad thing, considering Childress talks about liking his quarterbacks to be flat-line guys. Rogers agrees that Thigpen does a good job of remaining calm. At least most of the time.

"One of the neat things about him is he never seems to get flustered," Rogers said. "No matter if the head man is getting on him, I'm getting on him or what the situation is. He's one of those guys that manages to move onto the next play. Now the one problem we did have [Friday], I asked him what happened on those first couple of plays he was in and he really couldn't give me a great explanation. I think he was probably hyperventilating a little bit when he first got in the game."
