Dont tell me the Chiefs knew what they were doing with Bartee
or for that matter that they knew with Woods, Warfield, Bartee and Battle.
from ESPN Noted one veteran NFC scout: "If you've got one of those two-way defensive backs, and you're not sure quite what he is, you always start him out on the corner, so he can at least get his feet on the ground. But, yeah, we are seeing a lot more of those guys now. And teams are having success with them." |

Bartee was a bust Woods was a solid safety in his younger days (pre-injury) Warfield was average, but he was also a 7th round pick, What did you expect? Battle has been buried behing Vermeil's loyalty to vets, we can't exactly judge him yet. Every team in the league drafts guys that are CB/S tweeners, and like all draft picks, some of them never pan out. KC isn't doing anything out of the ordinary. If you want to piss and moan about something, at least pick something legit. Bitch about our ridiculous inability to scout D-linemen.

Right on with the D-Line comment. I hope that Krumrie has an eye for talent. Guy's gotta hope for something right? |

Woods and Warfield were just fine. They are just over the hill.

Unfortunately, Reggie Tongue was the better S between him and Woods. They needed each other, and when they split, both of them slipped...

Woods was a serviceable safety for a long time, but he wasn't the impact player that we could have expected from a 1st-round safety. I've got nothing against the guy, but he essentially was an unspectacular but workable safety. I wanted more.

No doubt, I remember when they let Reggie go, I thought "what a big mistake". I guess they though they would just plug someone in back there with Jerome and he'd be just fine. What a drag...

If the Chiefs don't land a FS in the draft I would like to see Bartee given the chance to challenge Wesley for the spot.

Some day Bartee will get an interception and prove us all wrong.
He's got great measurables, though, and we all know that April is about measurables, not production.

I think Warfield ended up okay. Especially out of a 7th round pick.
