None of the above? Seriously? I shouldn't even offer this option in Heat 88. | 0 | 0% | |

SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 88
The rules:
In Round 1, I'm going to put up three randomly selected scenes from the nomination thread. You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that. The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards. Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it and let me know so I can update it if it moves on. Start this clip at the invasion - the 3:02 mark. |

Holy shit, that's 3 of the best 5-7 scenes I've seen in the whole tourney thus far.
EDIT to add: though this clip didn't include it, the sharpshooter tacking our the machine gunner should be considered part of this scene. At all part of their taking the beach, I'd call the sharpshooter the culmiination of the scene and it put a 'hell yeah!' cherry on top of the 'oh ****' sundae.

I know. I really wish I could spread them out, but they just drew a tough heat against each other.

This heat could easily be the championship round. These are three amazing scenes, and it's sad that they have to face each other in Round 1.
My votes: #1 - Pulp Fiction. One cannot vote against this scene. It's the perfect blend of dark humor, snarkiness, action, and dialogue. I love how Vincent is just hanging out in the background while Jules does his thing. This one could be the overall champion. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?" God, I love this scene. #2 - There's Something About Mary. Oh, my. How can I vote against this epic scene? The sight of gorgeous Markie Post ducking in with the Bactine sends me to the floor. This one works on so many levels. Plus, I love how you can hear Warren at some point yell out, "Franks and beans!" I'd never noticed that before. #3 - Saving Private Ryan. Call me unAmerican. Call me unpatriotic. There's no denying that this scene is immensely powerful and perhaps the most gripping scene in any war movie ever. That said, this tournament is about FAVORITE scenes, and this scene stresses me out badly. I have to watch it and I appreciate it, but I don't really want to watch it and I don't find it enjoyable.

Later in SPR when the journalist guy is on the stairwell while his buddy gets stabbed near the end of the flick, I literally have to restrain myself from screaming at the screen and throwing things violently. Another emotionally charging scene very well done for a movie but wouldn't get a vote from me in this tourney. I think I'm following your lead on this one, rainman.... |

Three very good scenes. I'm voting for Pulp Fiction. I do wish we could have gotten that whole scene though. The part about the Big Kahuna burger(that's that Hawaiian burger joint) is wonderful. That is a tasty burger.

Just out of curiousity, how many heats are there in round 1? Is every scene in every movie included in this contest?

Even though I haven't seen Pulp Fiction I voted for it. I like that scene.
