The best TV show of the last 10-12 years that OTW58 hasn't seen...
Just finished up a long holiday break, and spent a lot of it watching all three seasons of Deadwood. For whatever reason, I had never gotten around to watching it, even though I had heard nothing but great things about it.
I thought this was the last truly great show I had missed out on, but then I realized the Planet could probably steer me in the right direction. Looking for something new to me, and phenomenal. Here's a list of the great and above average shows I've already seen. Might give you an idea of the kind of things Mrs. OTW58 and I like. Prefer to stick to HBO, SHO, AMC, FX, etc. Not really bothering with network. The Sopranos Deadwood Breaking Bad Mad Men Boardwalk Empire Dexter Homeland House of Lies Rescue Me The Wire Band of Brothers The Pacific Generation Kill Sons of Anarchy Archer Entourage Weeds The Killing I'm sure I forgot something. Any recommendations? |

It's originally based on a short story called "Fire in the Hole" by Elmore Leonard, about a US Marshall named Raylen Givens who returns to Kentucky, where he grew up. It's hard to describe exactly what it is, basically a tough rogue-ish federal marshall who has a talent for irritating both criminals and the marshall service. A pain in everybody's ass. There's a lot more to it, of course.
It's a great, great show. Timothy Olyphant plays Givens, and he's even better than he was in Deadwood (he was Seth Bullock). It's starting season 4 tonight, actually. |
