Every year, FF players get more crazy
I'm in a league where I know no one. I've been negotiating with this guy for days now on a deal for Trent Richardson.
Richardson is his 4th RB. He has MJD, CJ2k, Doug Martin and T-Rich. His WRs are Steve Johnson and Amendola. I offered him DeMariyus Thomas, Martellus Bennett for Ryan Williams and T-Rich. Counters with Philip Rivers, Williams, MaGahee, Amendola for Cam Newton, DeMariyus, Martellus Bennett and Isaac Redman. I tell him to pound sand. Then I sent him an offer of Demariyus and Bennett for Williams and Richardson. No dice. Counters with Andre Johnson/Bennett for Amendola and T-Richardson. That's lunacy. I personally think Thomas has a huge year and he should be enough for Richardson at this stage of the game. Richardson could have a good year, but there's tons of questions right now surrounding him. To think I'd trade a PPR machine like Andre Johnson is nuts for a back who's not even on his radar. I politely in an email told him not happening, so of course he says he has other offers, which I know is shit to get me to panic. I can understand the art of negotiation, but if I was in that position, I'd take Thomas when my WRs look like that. How is it in your leagues? Are owners just out of their minds this year or am I being crazy? |

Maybe he saw Trent get 20+ carries for Cleveland and thinks that over the course of the season those carries will translate to RB1 or RB2 production which is worth infinitely more than a WR who will be lucky to break 600 yards. People value players differently. It's the nature of the beast and always has been. |

I don't think Peyton Manning has ever had a starting WR on his offense have less than 600 yards.

I think Richardson's absolute ceiling this year is around 1150 yards and about 6 scores with that offensive situation and the run defenses in the division. Now, this time next year, it's likely a far different story. I'm just basing it on the injury, how bad the Browns offense is likely to be this year.

You project Thomas to score more than Richardson, another person may not. Another point is that it is easier to find a 1000 yard wide receiver than a 1000 yard running back. |

In fact, his are far closer to reasonable than yours are. Richardson, if healthy, will be a more valuable fantasy asset over the 2nd half of the season than AJ, IMO. Johnson's become quite overrated these days. He's injury prone and plays for a run-first team.

Every single draft I was in had Johnson taken over Richardson. You aren't concerned that teams are going to basically stack the box to stop him when the Browns probably have the worst starting QB in the league? Plus, who knows how his health translates this year. That risk is far greater to me than Andre Johnson's situation. In a PPR, I'll always value the guy who can catch a ton of passes over the RB who could produce like a RB2.

We both compromised here. Trade was just completed.
I traded: Andre Johnson, Sid Rice, Martellus Bennett I received: Steve Johnson, Trent Richardson, Ryan Williams. Really, really jacked I was able to get Steve Johnson.

Anyway, I'm glad you are happy with your trade. I was merely answering your question if FF players were more crazy by saying that you were basing your assessment of their sanity upon not agreeing with you on an unproven player's worth. Hope you win your league.

I share a team with my brother, and he's likely going to be pissed that I dealt AJ, but I couldn't go into Week 2 with Redman as our starting RB. We had AP on our bench last week and it cost us. Team still put up 144 without him, but I needed to make a big move so RB is no longer an issue. What do you think Williams' prospects are this year?

They say Beanie is the starter. The QB situation is a mess. I know a lot of people are high on him, but I think you won't see anything from him until Wells gets hurt. Even then, he's likely not starting for your squad barring injury to AP or Trent. I think you have to start TRich, he'll get his touches at least.

Williams is definitely in a good situation though. Another one of those runners that we heard SO much about during training camp and portions of preseason, but I think may ultimately disappoint. (Like Giants' Wilson). But, of all those hyped backups, I think he may be in the best position, sitting behind Beanie.
On the other hand, last year I had Beanie and you never knew until RIGHT before the game if he would play or not. Infuriating.
