Favorite songs of the 90s
What songs were your favorite back in the 90s? Also what songs were the most overplayed in the 90s in Kansas City?

My favorites were Backwater, Old Lady, Black, Penny Royal Tea, Cherub Rock, Zero, Gin and Juice, G Thang, Regulate. If I had to choose the best I’d go with Change by Blind Melon. Rain really ruined their reputation. Of course tomorrow I’d pick a different favorite.

The 90s are such a polarizing decade of music for me. Lots of really, really good shit (Pavement, Oasis, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel, Primal Scream, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Sublime, Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Biggie/Tupac/Nas etc) but also some of the most overrated bands (Nirvana, Pearl Jam [barf], Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, sellout REM) and overall terrible pop music.
My favorite song is probably Gold Soundz by Pavement, though.

I ignored 90s music at the time, in the last 5-10 years have discovered some that I think is fantastic. STP and Soundgarden; Cat Power and some of the other female acts of that time I really like.
I get nostalgic for the 90s now, was a much less tense era. |

Much less tense in the alternative/grunge/rock genres. Hip-Hop/rap on the other hand...
