Some of my tabletop gaming group have been playtesting for the last couple of months. They really like it. I don't allow myself computer gaming (hence the tabletop), but it sounds like a lot of fun.

It's really good. And the "Foundry" is awesome.
They're giving players all the tools to create their own campaigns, user created content... Some of them are awesome, and a lot of them are hilarious. |

Yeah. One of the coolest things is that they're (the community in the Foundry) creating classic D&D modules for it, like Keep on the Borderlands. Our core member (and most frequent DM) is about to move across the country, so our group may all be taking to NW soon to play together as I'm not sure that we'll use a "virtual table" to continue to play tabletop.

I've been playing it a bit. I like it so far but I'm only lvl 31. I don't play pen and paper dnd anymore so this will have to do. It is cool playing and making old school dnd adventures.

Free to play games are rarely pay to win because then no one would want to play. You usually pay for convenience items and cosmetics only. In many cases, you can get those same things by playing longer, too.
So if that's your main concern with these games, you shouldn't worry and try the content out.

I think this game is cool and pretty fun.
But after a little research, the end game is completely pay 2 win. Like, you are gonna have to spend a lot of money if you want to be competitive for the end game. And wtf is up with 5 hour mounts? that's ****ing stupid. I'd continue playing if I didn't research about how awful their design is for paying to win. |

I've been playing it for a few weeks. It's a lot of fun, and the Foundry is amazing. If I stay with the game long term, it'll be because of the Foundry. I'm also enjoying the action combat, although I think Guild Wars 2 did a little better job in some respects with that.
The only real "pay to win" aspects are (1) faster mounts, which help a lot capturing control points in PVP, and (2) enchants for end game gear. Both of these can be purchased with currency earned in game, but the cost is pretty steep, so a lot of players are calling these two things P2W. Other than that, everything they sell are either convenience items or stuff you can earn in game pretty quickly.
